The following 'Dickey' photo of Revelstoke was taken in the late 40's. It is purposely scanned at this size so that you can download it (right click and save) then import it into your favorite graphics program and reduce it down with high quality detail. Makes a nice background for your desktop.
You'll notice the yellow numbers on the photograph. These are placed near old buildings in town which are gone now. All, that is, except #4 which is still standing as the Museum. If you have difficulty, email me and I'll let you know what they refer to.
A couple of interesting things I discovered. There are no 'War-time' houses south of Vernon Ave between 4th St and 8th St (my old neighbourhood). They were built soon after the war ended. Also the City Hall looks much the same then as it does now c/w the 9:30 curfew siren. Also when I removed the photo from it's frame I discovered it was a black and white with the colors painted on.
Of course there's MOUNTAIN BEGBIE always standing over our home with the Mighty COLUMBIA at her feet.
