I am
a writer, editor, teacher, and storyteller
living in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.


My first children's novel Meeting Miss 405
will be published by
Orca Book Publishers,
in October 2008.

I have a number of other projects in hand for young readers, young adults, and preschoolers.

I also present workshops and courses for writers' organizations and conferences, When I'm not writing or teaching, I work as the Fund Development Officer
for a local nonprofit agency.

        Send me the opening 200-700 words in a children's story that one way or another
        includes references to a camel, a mirror and a newspaper. Send the text in the body of an email,
        and include your name, mailing address, and a note of the age of the reader the story is intended
        for. Include the words 'Story starter' in the subject line.
Deadline: July 3, 2008.
       
The winner's name only (and those shortlisted) will be published here. Authors retain full rights to
        the  text. First Place winner receives AG Smith's book; runner(s) up receives a copy of mine.

10% of author royalties go to Surrey Public Library's Legacy Fund, providing children's services, programs, and materials.
