will be published by Orca Book Publishers,
in October 2008.

I have a number of other projects in hand for young readers, young adults, and preschoolers.

I also present workshops and courses for writers' organizations and conferences, When I'm not writing or teaching, I work as the Fund Development Officer
for a local nonprofit agency.

        reads by Alexander Gordon Smith and/or a copy of my book 101-and more - Writing Exercises
        to Get You Started & Keep You going.

        Send me the opening 200-700 words in a children's story that one way or another
        includes references to a camel, a mirror and a newspaper. Send the text in the body of an email,
        and include your name, mailing address, and a note of the age of the reader the story is intended
        for. Include the words 'Story starter' in the subject line. Deadline: July 3, 2008.
        The winner's name only (and those shortlisted) will be published here. Authors retain full rights to
        the  text. First Place winner receives AG Smith's book; runner(s) up receives a copy of mine.
