v Talk about planning ahead. We've set the date (June 26-28) and the place (Camp Alexandra,
         Crescent Beach, Surrey) for a 2009 retreat 'Write at the Beach'. To stay on top of plans
         as they develop, check out this page, bookmark it, and check back often for the latest news.
         Or email me to have your name added to the retreat mailing list.

v The 2008 Surrey International Writer's Conference is shaping up. Check out the great line-up of
         editors, agents, and publishers who'll be sharing their knowledge with participants. I'm not presenting
         this year, but will be there as a participant and at my trade table promoting Meeting Miss 405 and
         101 Writing Exercises to get You Started & Keep You Going.

         The deadline for this year's contest
is Sept. 5 (fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and writing for  
         children.)         

v Check out the cover of Meeting Miss 405 (illustrated by Peter  Ferguson). The book is now

v  2008 Canadian Aid Literary Award Contest offers a publishing contract to the winner. Deadline
