Hello and welcome to my web page.
My stage name is Warren James. I consider myself a film maker.
I live in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and have been acting off and on here for about ten years. Finding myself a none too successful actor I decided to place myself behind the camera. About eight years ago I embarked on a film education starting with learning the craft from Dave Hardy who runs a film school here. (I highly recommend him to any one.) I have attended or taken just about every course/workshop on all aspects of film making offered in the Vancouver area.
I have learned by doing ... a process I find to be a lot less expensive than attending film schools.
Today, I am a member of the Cineworks film co-operative in Vancouver. As well, I am also a apprentice member of the ACTRA union, Vancouver local.
I have worked on several ultra low budget features and shorts as a gaffer, P.A., sound recorder, camera asst., gopher, and A.D. I also have worked as an A.D. over twenty music videos on an on going basis for Nick Darcy of Infinity Productions.
On the writing side of things I have a couple of short film scripts, a half hour television pilot (written with Doug Carter), an hour television pilot, a couple of features, and a few various projects under development. (As I develop this site I will post descriptions here ... but until then if you are interested in anything ... send me an e-mail.)
I 1995 I wrote a short film titled "ShowDown". I had always wanted to do a western but with budget limitations decided a short was the way to go. Fortunately I am a friend of Mr. Peter Breck (remember Big Valley?) and he agreed to do a cameo for me and offered great advice on directing.
In 1996 I formed my production company Chicagoil Productions Ltd. and then produced and directed this film. I wore many hats on this production ... from editor to credit design ... and it turned out great (I think so). The finished project is 16 m.m. colour with an optical sound track and running time is 16 minutes.
In 2002 I changed my company name from Chicagoil Productions Ltd. to a shorter and sweeter sounding Aithra Productions Ltd. I also set up the companies URL at http://www.aithra.com.
I do have VHS copies available for viewing and as well as a BETA SP master for any studio that might be interested.
The film, as all films, was a labour of love and hard work. Hard work from myself, my actors and crew who donated their time and expertise to this unproven director.
