Amberhaven is a Certified Wildlife Habitat with resident deer and hundreds of wild birds. We provide food, water and shelter for birds and animals. We are attempting to eradicate non-native plants. We have two sheltered ponds and have re-established an ancient wetland. This area is now home to many species of warbler. Wild mallard ducks have landed on their fly-by. A pair of piieated woodpeckers raise young every year in our wood. Robins nest in the carport. A barred owl is often seen here at night.
We recycle everything possible and conserve water. Please observe Hornby Island's water conservation, fire and recycling codes.
We try to keep noise to a minimum so our guests may enjoy peace and quiet. Our street has little traffic and we are surrounded by fir and cedar trees.
We are 3 minutes walk from the community hall, Farmer’s and Craft Market and the library. A 10-15 minute walk will take you to 3 different beaches.
Food: Fresh eggs are available from our own chickens. Two stores will provide everything else you may need.
Health: Hornby Island has excellent doctors and massage therapists.
Eating Out: Thatch pub and restaurant, Jan’s cafe, VORIZO outdoor coffeehouse and cafe, Pizza and lunches at the bakery, Sea Breeze for fine dining.

Accommodation: 3 rooms with kitchenettes, private entrances on 10 acres, shared shower and toilet rooms, shared outdoor patio area. Baseboard Heating.
No Pets.
Smoking: Allowed on outdoor deck only; not in any of our rooms, to keep them asthma free.
Water: Water on Hornby is limited. Our water has been tested for safety and tastes great.
Recreation Available: Fishing charters available: ask us. Tennis, swimming, sandy beaches, tide pooling, diving, wildlife watching, hiking. Bike, scooter, kayak and horse rentals. And much more.
Arts: Wednesday and Saturday markets, galleries. artist’s home studios. Jazz Friday nights at the Thatch.
Movies once a week at the Hall.
