I am a Chevy guy, that doesn't mean I don't work on other units, it just means I prefer Chevy. Could be due to the fact I have worked as a automotive repair technician for the last 20 years in various Chevrolet dealerships.
I got into making custom calibrations and "super chips" as a result of frustration. This frustration results from time and time again working on a customers car trying to make it idle smoothly or get better fuel mileage only to find there was nothing I could do because some engineer back at the factory decided this is how your engine will operate and there is nothing you can do about it. You may have experienced this yourself. Have you ever taken your truck or car in for service and after several hours the technician says "there is nothing more I can do, the problem is with the calibration". Maybe you have even been one of the many people that have purchased a so called "superchip" from your local parts supplier only to find that it made your engine ping. Truth of the matter is no one generic calibration can truly correctly operate your engine, even identical engines built by the same engine builder will run slightly different.
Here at Car Tunes I am in the business of making your vehicle more efficient and therefore more powerful. You also get the added benefit of better fuel mileage. I do this by modifying the calibrations contained in your stock computer. The process I use is very similar to that used by most of the popular after market hand held reprogramming devices. The BIG difference is that I build a custom calibration that is specific to your vehicle whereas the handheld units are more or less a one size fits all. If for example you have modified your engine with say a larger camshaft or even modified air intake system my calibrations can account for the change where the after market device is useless.
