Windows Striplog Programmes for Petroleum Geologists

max-LOG presently plots in two formats:

CANADIAN - Scale 1:240 Plotting Interval = 1 m
INTERNATIONAL - Scale 1:200 Plotting Interval = 1 m

In addition to max-LOG , the compu-max family of striplog programmes includes max-HORZ , a horizontal striplog programme and max-VIEW , a programme to view striplog files created with max-LOG lite, max-LOG or max-HORZ .

The max-HORZ presentation was the first horizontal log designed to look horizontal. The lithology is plotted about the bit track, which can be displayed at a maximum of 5:1 vertical exaggeration. The horizontal presentation shown is a colour gif (30k) of a portion of an actual log. In this example, the MWD Gamma curve is shown in green. The prognosis line is shown in blue.

max-LOG and max-HORZ can import MWD Gamma files from Baker Hughes Inteq, Ryan Energy Technologies and Sperry Sun.

max-Horz scales are:

1:240 - Plotting Interval 1 m
1:600 - Plotting Interval 2.5 m
1:1200 - Plottong Interval 5 m

USER FAQs

Q: I just installed Windows 2000 (or XP) and I get the message Sentinel not Intalled. What do I have to do?

A: You need a new driver to use the Sentinel under Windows 2000 or Windows XP. Your present driver will work with Windows 98 or Windows ME. A new driver on a CD is available from compu-max for $25. Or you can download a Zip file containing the necessary installation files for NT, 2K & XP. Sentinel Driver (3.94 MB)
Q: Why can't I plot my core study at the end of my log? I can plot it fine when I open the core study on its own but when I go to print the final log the Plot Parameters dialogue box doesn't give me a chance to plot the cores.
A: You must enter a Core Interval in the main log in order to plot a core study at the end of the log. This is done with Data Entry|Cores.
Q: What is Run Time Error 207?
A: Run Time Error 207 is caused when the programme tries to convert a large number to an integer for plotting purposes. This happens if there is an error in the ROP or Total Gas entries. Check your ROP and Total Gas for any suspicious values, especially two entries with the same depth.

The Basic Materials Lab Testing Package consists of three programes PMAR (Paving Materials Analysis Report, SAR (Sieve Analysis Report) and HYDRO (Sieve/Hydrometer Analysis).
PMAR and SAR are stand-alone single page reports and HYDRO is intended for inclusion in engineering reports.

American Grain Subsidies are so LARGE they are visible from Space

The uper half of the image shows southern Alberta rangeland; below, the dense agglomeration of Montana wheat fields. The dramatic change in land use is not a function of soils or climate but of American agricultural policies that encourage and subsidize grain production and of Canadian policies which do not. The area shown centres on the Milk River, flowing southeast out of Canada and into the United States. In this "false colour" Landsat image, healthy vegetation is depicted in bright red. Recently harvested fields are white, while land left to fallow is a pale green.
