Don Berger: Past Art Exhibits
A Floral Affair: Exclusive Art
Exhibit
May 22nd - June 3rd, 2003, Calgary,
Canada
Sumptuous flowers filled every wall at the
opening night gala of “A Floral
Affair.” The exhibit showcased 23
floral canvases, each 3’ x 4’,
bringing to larger-than-life roses, irises,
peonies, hibiscus, hydrangea and more. In
attendance were the artist and his family,
who traveled from B.C.; Chris Harrison, the
Gallery owner (shown below left with the
artist), Donna Chyz, Director of the Calgary
gallery; and numerous owners and afficionados
of Berger’s artwork.
Berger said,
“This show represents a year of very
focused painting. Much of the inspiration
came from the 2002 Kelowna Garden Tour,
particularly the Elysium Gardens in the
Rutland area which are exceptionally
beautiful.” The blue hydrangea above
stood out to him as a new species to paint,
and the resulting ‘Rhapsody in
Blue,’ sold out during the first few
minutes of the June 2003 Exhibit in Calgary.
He said he found the previous year of
painting relaxing, resulting in more fluid
brushstrokes and the freedom to develop the
range of his palette.
Thanks to Chris and Donna for their expert
mounting of the show, positioning, framing
and lighting that presented the artwork in
such a fabulous way, and making the show such
a success. Photos from the evening are shown

Approximately 100 people gathered June 21, 2001
for the opening night of Don Berger’s art

attendance were the artist and his family; Chris
Harrison, the Gallery owner, and Donna Chyz,
Director of the Calgary gallery (shown at right
