‘Cabin Fever'

"OK. please open up the door
I'd like to go outside"
I said to Dad, on Monday, "please make haste"

But Dad said "no you can't go out
there's moss stuff on the lawn
you can't go till the moss is laid to waste"

Young Jed then sauntered up and asked
if he could go outside
and Dad said "no, I've just explained to Zak"

"Your Mom, she wants the moss dispatched
so you are shut inside
you can't go out the front or out the back"

I must explain right here and now
the sun was shining bright
it was a special BC day out there

And we were stuck in, looking out
just watching all the birds
it really was a little hard to bear

So Jed and I devised a game
to get our exercise
and try to change the future ‘garden plan'

We hope it works, so we are not
restricted any more
for ev'ry time Dad twitched or moved we ran

Dad headed up the stairs and we
both streaked up there as well
he turned back down, we dashed back down again

In fact whichever door was close
we headed for in haste
we wanted out and made our wishes plain

I must say Dad put up with this
for 'bout an hour or two
explaining more than once about the moss

But finally he'd had enough
and said "I m out of here
I somehow cannot get my point across"

With that he left and Jed and me
we settled in to rest
to build up energy with our sojourn

We planned to start up once again
whenever Dad got back
we waited, patiently, for his return

For two whole days we kept it up
this dash from door to door
it drove Dad nuts, he said as much to Mom

It just might make them both think twice
before they kill more weeds
Feline assault, on equilibrium. -
