Watch those Claws...

My Dad and I were playing in the garden, just today
we do this every now and then you see
when all at once my Dad said "OW !" looked closely at his hand
and said "now Jed look what you've done to me"

I looked quite closely at his hand and noticed it was red
he mopped it with a tissue and exclaimed
"you savage little rotten cat, that's four Band-Aids" Dad said
"I will be lucky if I aint been maimed"

I keep forgetting, when we play, and we are having fun
to keep my little claws all tucked inside
I enjoy playing with my Dad, my claws I quite forget
and naturally, from my paws they glide

That's when I get my Dad and Mom, don't mean to hurt them, but
when I was very small I learned from Gem
to keep them ready, as she tried to tear me limb from limb
it was my only chance, this stratagem

I'm sorry that I got my Dad, he bleeds quite easily
and though he does become upset with me
he soon forgives, although I notice for the next few days
we'll play again, but much more cautiously...
