My Poor Gladioli

Those rotten deer came in the night and chewed up every 'glad'
I tolerated them before, but now I'm just plain mad

We were so kind, we welcomed them and let them eat the grass
we fed them apples, berries too, but this just burns my ...

Regardless of the 'messages' they left us on the lawn
we did not mind them sleeping here and breakfasting each morn

As long as they just ate the grass, some berries, leaves as well
but let alone the flowers and in peace we all would dwell

This really was a sore abuse, of hospitality
to breakfast on those lovely 'glads' that's just too much for me

So now I am afraid that they can't stop here any more
they have 'worn out their welcome', we will show them all the door...
