Tales Of Sod and Line...

‘Into each life some rain must fall’ if I might quote the song
and as of now it’s pouring, I just hope it don’t last long

To illustrate my meaning I will outline as below
this ‘rain’ that has been tippling down, just so you-all will know

My first thought was re-sod the lawn to move out all the moss
it sure was taking over, I would show it who’s the boss

Now Tom, my friendly neighbour, well, of sod, he had a pile
was happy to donate it and he brought it, with a smile

We dumped it all there on my lawn, inside the garden gate
and there it sat, for two whole days, it rained, I had to wait

But I had bitten off a lot more than I cared to chew
re-sodding lawns is not a job for pensioners to do

Now, what to do with all that sod, I’ll tell you what I did
at the bottom of the garden, I built a pyramid

And there it sits out of the way and there it will remain
re-sodding’s on my list of things I will not try again...

The next thing was the laundry pole, the darned thing, rotted out
deposited the laundry on the lawn, I heard Mom shout

I guess that we were lucky as the post, all 15 feet
did not come down on cat or deer, it snapped at the concrete

That is so recent I have not decided what to do
dig out the wood, reset the pole, I have not thought it though

But when I do and if it works and if the pole stands tall
I’ll finish off this little rhyme and thus advise you-all...

***********
So here’s the end, we settled on a handy man to do
a proper job, he came and saw and brought his Brother too

He dug a hole, he brought a pole, we got it into place
and now it stands there proud and tall, a thing of beauty, grace

Now Mom can hang her laundry out and dry it in the sun
It’s just another symbol of House owning... Ain't it fun..
