Sandy Thoughts..

I sat alone and thought about those childhood days of yore,
and wondered why I never went to Southport any more

Upon a whim, I gathered up a bucket and a spade,
I got some bread and butter- and even lemonade

I drove down to the sea-side and found a place to sit
I ate my meal and didn't mind the sand I found in it

I built a castle with a moat and watched the tide lap near
reliving all those childhood days, I (nearly) shed a tear

And then I saw a lovely shell just washed up by a wave
I paddled out to rescue it and thought myself quite brave

But as I brought it to my face its wild sea-song to hear
an irate hermit crab shot out, and bit me in the ear...
