THE LAW OF GOLF...

Say, Did you know that golf was banned
the year of 91?
that's 1491 I haste to ad.
It seems that James the 4th. decreed
that golf was bad for all
agin the realm, defense thereof, t'is sad

Although he had a point you know
if his decree had stuck
we woul'dnt be a-hacking here today
no more frustrated folk around
and no more broken homes
we'd all be playing tennis or croquet

At times I wish his law had worked
depending how I played
at times I'm rather glad it went no-where
but if it had, then someone would
have found another game
to cause me grief, elation and despair...
