Locked
Out...

Today Dad pulled a boo boo.. Gemma was supervising Dad, who was
fixing a door in Mom's sewing room, from what she told me he wasn't
doing too bad a job so she was not offering much advice, just
sitting watching.... I was outside at the time and, as it was
raining, bless his heart, he decided to find out if I was ready
to come in.
He opened the basement door to the garage and pulled it closed behind him so that Gemma would not amble out and get wet again, and came out to the foot of the stairs to give me a call.. I was ready and toddled down the back stairs, into the garage and waited for Dad to open the door...
I reached up for the knob with my front paws then turned to Dad, he looked a little sheepish, whatever that term means, anyway he looked uncomfortable and said "I am sorry Zak it seems I have locked us out".
I thought he was pulling my paw, but he was muttering to himself and looking a little mad... I followed as he went round to the front door and checked that, it was also locked, he came back in the garage and looked at the glass in the door, then he noticed that Gemma, who was wondering what was going on, was sitting up against the door. Out the front we went again, this time he kept going and went next door to Tom and Barbara's and that was the last I saw of him for an hour and a half. I took a wander across the road then round the back, then finished up in the garage out of the wind and rain... .Boy, was I glad when Mom showed up with a key.
From what I can gather Dad phoned Mom at
work to come to the rescue, then he stayed at Tom and Barbara's
for lunch...
Gemma, while she was shut inside, after I told her, through the
door, what had happened, decided to pass the time writing a little
verse about the problem:
LOCKED
OUT..

Out went our Dad to look for Zak, he closed
the door behind him
he wandered out around the back, no Zak, he couldn't find him
So back he came to work some more at gluing,
sawing, drilling
he worked to fix the closet door, not skillfully, but willing
A little later out he went, same process
as before
this time he found my Brother Zak, but Dad had locked the door
He went next door and phoned our Morn, then
had some lunch while waiting
it sure was nice to see her come, LOCKED OUT, is aggravating.
