Chapter Three..

Gemma also composed a verse for Father's Day and she insists that I give you the 'benefit of her brilliance', also to let you know how much she likes Dad. I had composed one for Mother's Day but it was lost in the innards of the machine somewhere, I did make the mistake of trusting it to Canada Post, as Gemma points out, and they let me down.

Father's Day

Hello, my name is Gemma yes, I always start like this
it's such a pretty name you see, for such a pretty Miss

But I digress, I started here to write about my DAD
who's handsome, wise and witty, and his talent ain't so bad

I learned well from my brother Zak and sitting on Dad's knee
this new machine is not so hard for someone smart as me

So I decided I should write a verse, just for my DAD
to wish him HAPPY FATHER'S DAY from me and "Zak the Bad"

I m not about to mail this verse, like Zak, and waste a stamp
I'll pop it on the table here a-leaning on the lamp

In closing I must say again A HAPPY FATHER'S DAY
It's just because Dad's very nice, in his own funny way...

Luv. Gemma.

Then came the day Gemma caught the Robin.. It was a day that changed all of our lives and, although she keeps reminding me and pointing out, when I mention what a nice comfortable house we have, that it was thanks to her, I have to insist that the law of coincidence must take some of the credit, see what you think...

TO BUY A HOUSE....

The Huntress padded up the stairs and Mom let out a yell
"come look at what YOUR cat has done, we're going to need a bell"

For there, a silent Robin lay, upon the kitchen floor
the Huntress, standing proudly, as she tapped it with her paw

To cut a lengthy story short we went to buy a bell
to help protect the other birds, the rabbits, mice as well

Now right beside the Pet shop was Nanaimo Real Estate
with pictures on the window of their listings, up to date

To further cut this story short we were advised to see
a brand new listing they'd received a house right by the sea

We looked at 7 p.m. and liked, and put our offer in
then sat and waited, fingers crossed to see if we would win

At half past nine the house was ours, our offer was approved
and once again we faced the task of getting ourselves moved

I think a little credit's due to Gemma, Huntress bold
and to a poor Red Robin there, a-buried in the cold

Without her sad demise we would have never bought the bell
and never heard about the house 'Tis fate, that I can tell.

Zak...

Anyway, we moved in on Aug. 21st and gradually everything is settling down. There have been some odd incidents, some worth writing about and I will do my best to put these down, with, no doubt, a note or two from Gemma thrown in to keep her happy...
