Holmestead Murray Greys Our Murray Grey herd suits our small farm well. Their gentle nature makes them a pleasure to work around and a large corral system is not necessary for their general up keep. Their smaller frame and higher carcass yield is also a big plus, especially with escalating feed costs! Calving problems are virtually non existent with the Murray Grey’s low birth weights and good milking cows soon add pounds to the calves. Although our numbers will never be large, we are striving to breed the best animals that we can and have utilized, through AI, the genetics of several good import bulls. Our pasture bull is a good young bull that arrived this spring from Alvin and Lisa Clarke’s Willow Creek Cattle Co. in Calmar, Alberta. We’ve included pictures of our cows and calves, with a short pedigree on the cows. We’ll also update the calf pictures as they grow, so check back and see for yourself how a good Murray Grey cow makes beef! Please click on any of the photos below for a larger view. Watch for more photos of our cattle in the spring of 2007!
