It was the great snowfall of 2005, and Catherine and Nanette, two Canadians, wanted a special igloo of their own.

Was it too much to ask?

Maybe it was too much...the igloo grew bigger and bigger. It rose up higher and higher. Catherine and Nanette seemed to be smaller and smaller.

Nanette and Catherine didn't really mind. For a while they threw snowballs at each other and tried to hit Kelsie, the dog who lived in the big house. However, they still wished for an igloo all their own.

The air was very cold. It was minus 3 degrees Celsius. The two friends weren't used to being outside at all, as they were two special Canadians, kept on display on a warm window seat in the best bedroom in the big house.

Oh! What should they do?

Where was their igloo?

Catherine and Nanette hurried inside the warm house to have a hot cup of cocoa. They spotted Maria helping clean up the Christmas things. They felt a bit guilty.

But after the cocoa was finished, out they went again, and there was the igloo!

Catherine was simply ecstatic! It was a dream come true!

Nanette was anxious to get inside too, but alas, the igloo was now too small!

But it was better than nothing. And forts aren't much fun if the other girls have to stay inside and help clean.

So they decided to take turns. It was a lot of fun. It wasn't quite what they had wanted, but it was better than nothing, and it was certainly better than cleaning!

The two friends played for a little while, till their noses were red and their fingers turned blue.

It was the best day of 2005 so far.

A perfect snow day!
