The traffic was congested from Portland to McMinnville, the small town we were aiming for on our first night.

We were relieved to arrive at the Best Western hotel after 5 pm, where we speedily unpacked our bags and freshened up.

This is a picture of Aunt Emma, my Mom's older sister. She and Uncle Bud and my cousin Judy met us for dinner next to the hotel.

We had a great time visiting, although I noticed the women's side of the table was way more chatty than the men's side.

Judy Brutka and myself. Judy is the only daughter of Walt and Patricia. Walt is my Mom's brother.

Judy and I giggled and chatted so much I had trouble eating my delicious halibut dinner. It seemed like we had parted yesterday instead of three years ago.

The restaurant decor reminded me of Gilligan's Island TV episodes. You'll notice the camera focused on the grass hanging in the windows and we are slightly fuzzy.

The men's side of the table:
On the left, my Dad and Matthew.

On the right, Robert and Uncle Bud behind him. I was so busy talking that I didn't even notice what they were eating.

Afterwards, my parents went to Aunt Emma's home to visit, and I went with Judy to Walmart to buy fabric. The day had crawled by, but the evening flew and before we knew it we were saying good-bye.
