Alberta Trip May 2005 - May 23

We arrived at Writing-On-Stone Provincial Park fairly early on May 23.  The long weekend crowds were packing up and going home, and we had our choice of campsites.  We spent the afternoon exploring, first on the beach, where Anna made a sand town, then among the hoodoos.  The land is indescribably beautiful.

The campground and surrounding area are home to many cottontail rabbits, a multitude of small birds, and some deer.  We didn't see any rattlesnakes, despite the warning signs at the entrance of the park.  There are many lovely wildflowers growing here, but even among the hoodoos the wind keeps them in constant motion so they are very difficult to photograph.
