Hellner

This cleaning up frenzy I'm into can't last forever - well, maybe it can.

I like that correction feature over at Ancestry.  In the options box just to the right of the record you're looking at.  If you know the name is wrong on a record, you can add a correction and say how you know.  Right now it only handles names, but imagine if we could get onto the dates as well.  We'd have our shared history spiffed up in a flash.  In the meantime though you can always leave that in the Comments box.

My great-aunt Eleanor Harris Beeken, who I knew as Nellie, is in the 1900 census for Toledo, Lucas Co., OH as 'son Hellner'.  I've often come across this in other people's work.  Hellner.  Who would call their kid Hellner?  For once and for all, her name was Eleanor and she was a she.  And her mother's name was Olive, not Ollie or Olie.

My last name is Hellner.  It's a good last name.

Of course, no offense intended.  As I understand it, Nellie was a bit o' hell, so maybe they got it right.
