• Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild

    This is a series of 9,000+ ship lists from all over the world. The coverage includes about 30 different countries (perhaps more).  Of course, some countries have more coverage than others; England and France have records of several hundred voyages, where as Japan, Trinidad, Barbados, India, Sierra Leone, etc. may have only a few.

    Ship lists are important for learning the origins of ancestors and their destinations. They can also be useful in determining filial relationships (based on who they traveled with). Immigration records are also useful in figuring out timelines for ancestors.

• Hungarian 1828 Land Census

    This census is immensely important for this area of the world. The census only covers land-owning males, but it is one of the few records for this time period in this geographic area and covers over 25 countries.

    This series has previously only been available by contacting the author and ordering the books from her directly. This is exclusive to WVR.

• Moravian Records

    This database, of about 8,000 names consists of a list of people known to emigrate from the region referred to as Moravia (part of the Czech Republic). This database compiles information from several sources including the best source for Moravian emigration as well as user-submitted data with contact info for users.

• Argentina

    Familias-Argentinas.com.ar is the biggest genealogy tree data base of Argentinian people.

    Familias-Argentinas.com.ar is a project that started in 1994 as a family tree. In 2000, the benefits of posting the data on the Internet were undeniable.  A Web page was created with a database of almost 14,000 related persons. Since then many genealogists and family history fans have helped with the project through corrections, new branches, and even genealogical books.  In the Familias Argentinas database individuals can find not only information on most of Argentinian personalities, but also many proven connections to European royal families from Spain, France, England, and other countries (for example Windsor and Romanov families are connected to Argentinian families). The oldest branches date back as far as 350 years after Christ. All of the data has been uploaded one by one to maintain the coherence of the database and to avoid duplicity.  But more importantly, every single name is added only if it links to any of the existing family branches that Familias Argentinas tracks.  This feature, in turn, assures Familias Argentinas that the database is the biggest South American database in which all 130,000 people are connected to each other.

    This database is unique to WVR.

• French Newspapers from Godfrey Library

    These are a variety of newspapers from the 17th and 18th centuries from France.

• Ryerson Index

    The Ryerson Index is an index to death notices appearing in current Australian newspapers.  It also includes some funeral notices, probate notices and obituaries.

• Genealogical Publishing Company

    This collection is huge and consists of all the international materials that are in digital format from Genealogical.com.  The records primarily focus on the British Isles, especially Ireland, and the American colonial period.  There are also a handful of German, Swiss and French records, focused primarily on emigration from those countries.

    This database is primarily useful for people with ancestors who lived in colonial America and/or Ireland through about 1800.

• Mission 2000

    This database includes transcriptions from parishes on the Arizona/Mexico border.  It includes thousands of names and is helpful for people with Mexican, Native American and even Italian ancestry.

• UK Census

    UK census for 1841, 1851, 1861, 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901.

    The census is the #1 resource for researching British ancestors. It is used hand in hand with the parish registers. These censuses show families in groups, rather than single individuals. They give ages, professions, birth places, and other useful information. The civil registrations are also of utmost importance to people doing British genealogy.
