The Last Judgement

The left photo below shows the other moon photograph (composite) used for inspiration. The cross shape was actually the first revelation I saw. This cross shape in the centre of the Moon evolved into an entire Last Judgement scene, the draft of which I have outlined in the coloured image on the right. Christ on the cross is formed by the Appenine and Causacus Mountains on the moon. The profile of Christ's face corresponds with the feature known as "Palus Putredinus". Even on Lunar features we have unknowingly dishonoured him. (See the painting of Christ's face below).  I am working on a complete painting of this for the year 2000.

The Face of Jesus

This is a separate painting of the face of Christ using the composite moon photograph (the last judgement) for inspiration. The light blue rectangle shows where this appears on the photo. I interpreted the crater copernicus to be the halo over the head of Jesus, which is actually a ring created by the wings of His guardian angel. This is a picture of Jesus on the cross so He wears the crown of thorns. Howevr, it is also a picture of the risen Christ looking with admiration at the saved people on His right (His back is facing the viewer).

     Actual Painting Measures 14" x 18"
