Welcome to the PPM Website!

The Popular Participation Movement is a grassroots political activist group. It is established as a campus club at Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo, BC, Canada. Its mission is to promote a political culture of popular participation. The club aims to increase awareness of local and global socio-political issues. The PPM believes in a philosophy of people and the environment before profits.

	Stood up for Public Process in Nanaimo where the city fell down. Held the library plaza renaming contest for the city since the city eliminated the public process 'in-camera' at a council meeting without divulging reasons. Results: Tommy Douglas Plaza - 126 votes; Beggar's Plaza - 83 votes; John Parkin Plaza - 75 votes; Diana Krall Plaza - 51 votes
	United Against Empire Rally for Peace, Justice & Equality. Sunday May 18th, 2008. Featuring free performances by reggae legend Clinton Fearon and local talent Jon Bone & the Karuna Movement.
	Hip-Hop For Peace! Sunday March 16th, 2008 in downtown Nanaimo at the Harbourfront Plaza, outside of the public library 1-5 pm. Featuring conscious hip-hop acts
