Methuselah's Legacy is set mostly in and around Seattle, Washington, with a couple of forays to Vancouver, B.C., and Squamish, B.C. about an hour north of Vancouver along the spectacular Sea to Sky Highway.

In downtown Seattle this small brick building is plastered against a larger one. At the time I wrote the first draft of Methuselah's Legacy I had no idea it existed. But if I'd been asked to draw the Tara Sands Inn, this is what I would have produced (without the huge ground floor window, of course). Some time later a friend who'd read the book sent me these front and rear pictures. I thought the building was just about perfect...

Tarsands front ...and rear

This is Dan Van Peebles' neighborhood. Large old houses converted to reasonably comfortable apartments. It's a long bike ride and a world away from Queen Ann Hill.
This is Alice's apartment building. It has a nice, middle class feel to it.
Here's the Starbucks on Yesler that Rusty Setterly used while staking out the Tarsands. The Pergola (right) is a little difficult to see because of the bright sunshine and shadows at the time the picture was taken, but you can make out the ornate iron work.
This stunning mansion on Queen Anne Hill in Seattle is a pretty good match for the mansion of J.J. Hudson Moorhen. The street shot shows a complete absence of parked cars in this neck of the affluent woods. This is pretty much the way Waddel and Preddy would have seen the street.
These three shots show railway tracks outside the container yard and the scene of the gunfight at OK Corral. Waddel's car would have been parked near the large warehouse.
Thanks to M.J. Porter of Seattle for the Seattle pictures
The University of Washington at cherry blossom time. In the fall, when Waddel was here, the trees are the cliched "riot of color".
View along the Sea to Sky Highway. If you were taking this picture, the highway is behind you and the other side of the road is a sheer cliff face going up hundreds of feet. This was taken about halfway between Vancouver and Squamish.
Shannon Falls. This spectacular little waterfall is located close to Squamish, B.C. on the Sea To Sky Highway. The picture is taken from a vantage point closer than the one Waddel and Alice would have enjoyed, but they'd certainly have gotten a good look at it from the highway.
Here's the formation known as the Stawamus Chief located across the highway (not visible) from the 7-Eleven, or "Sev" as it's called locally. This is the view Alice would have had when standing in the Sev parking lot.
