balzana/balza; a hemline trim; jewelled ornaments; cloth or fur adogato/addogato; particolored with broad stripes of cloth affaldato; arranged into neat folds
balzo; a large headdress, completely hiding the female wearer's head alessandrino; a vivid violet blue colour, dyed with oricello, a lichen appicciolato/picciolato; a type of silk, usually damask
becchetto; the long part of the cappuccio berettino; a shade of grey, almost black bambagia; a linen or cotton cloth used for interfacing
benda/binda; silk or linen veil wrapped or intertwined with the hair bigio; a shade of grey boccaccino; a modest cotton or linen cloth used for sleeves
berretta; any form of cap or hat of round or semi-conical shape bruschino; a shade of dark red bombasina; cheap cotton, or cotton/ linen blend, equivalent to fustian
borsa/borsetta; a purse, usually attached to the belt corozoso; colori corozosi were the colours of mourning - dark blue, mulberry, green, brown, and black broccato; brocade, usually silk

braghetta; codpiece garanza; a red dye from the roots of the madder plant rubia tinctorum damaschino; damask, a monochrome figured cloth with a ground of satin and a pattern in sateen
busto/petto (m/f); the top part of the main body of a garment grana; grain, the red dye obtained from the kermes dossi; skins of fur from the back of an animal
calcetto; a light short sock of linen grigio; the colour grey, but also used to denote 'grey' - untreated cloth ermellini; ermine, a highly prized fur,reserved for necklines, sleeves, and hems
calze; hose or stockings monachino; a shade of brown with a reddish tint gualescio; a plain silk fabric, used for lining
camicia/camisa (m/f); an under garment morello; mulberry coloured guarnello (m/f); both a kind of linen or cotton cloth, and the feminine garment made from it
cappa; a man's robe with sleeves pavonazzo; the color of the peahen - a brownish tint of red pancie; skins of fur from the underside of the animal's belly
cappello; a hat with a wide brim, usually made of straw pelo di lione; a tawny yellow colour, resembling that of a lion's skin. raso; a cloth of satin weave
cappuccio; a hood, often with a rolled brim rosato; a light shade of red rensa; fine linen
cintola/cintura/cingola (m/f); belt sbiadato; a shade of bluish grey saia; a type of woollen cloth

farsetto (m); a man's doublet zendado/zendale; a very light silk cloth of oriental origin

fermaglio; a brooch or hat badge
finestrella; the opening at the front of the elbow of a sleeve
frenello (f); a string of pearls used as a hair ornament
gabbano (m); a heavy cape with sleeves
gamurra/cammura/camora (f); a simple dress worn directly over the woman's chemise (camicia)
ghirlanda/grillanda (f); a garland worn as a headdress by women
giornea (f); an overdress with an open in front and sides, to allow the cotta to show through

a gomito (m/f); a form of sleeve, loose on the arm but narrow at the wrist.

a guarnazzone; a style of full sweeping sleeves shaped like wings
lenza; a ribbon or braid tied round the crown of the head, and decorated with a jewel
lucco (m/f); a long gown open in front and fastened at the neck with slits at the sides for the arms
maglia/maglietta; a metal eyelet or little loop through which laces are threaded

mongile/mongino/monzino (m/f); a form of cloak with sleeves, possibly of monastic origin

pedule; the protective sole attached to the bottom of each calza
pianella; a form of shoe with a leather sole built up into a wedge
punta/aghetto/agugello; the metal point that reinforces the tip of a ribbon or cord
reta; a knotted net of silk or gold threads with pearls or other gems, worn over the hair
