Arn is a house gnome who makes toys for girls and boys which he delivers on Christmas. Arn wears various outfits, but always has a traditional bent-over red cap. Sometimes his cap has a pompom on the end. Arn also enjoys baking for Little Gnome.

Betto is a young, brown-haired, boy gnome.

Lives in village of Rainbow's End where he runs a blacksmith shop assisting the gnomes of Rainbow's End. Just one look at his beard explains his name!

Bruna is a beautiful, young female gnome with long yellow pony tails.

Bumbletummy is a miner gnome. He is the train Station-Master at  the Village of Boland Banks deep in the Forest of Boland. Bumbletummy likes to garden.

Campion is a gnome who has a bountiful vegetable garden and lives with the Woodland Folk. His outfit includes the traditional red and white striped tights and red bent-over cap of the Woodland gnomes. He wears wooden clogs.

Clover is a carpenter gnome and invented wonderful things for the Woodland Folk such as little scooters for tortoises to help them win races, and an elevator to access four new cozy gnome apartments in an old elm tree. Clover is often seen with an apron or pencil behind his ear. His outfit includes the traditional red and white striped stockings and bent-over red cap of the Woodland gnomes. He wears wooden clogs.

Cowslip always carries a large knife in a special leather case attached to his belt and wooden clogs. His outfit also includes the traditional red and white striped tights of the Woodland gnomes.

Crocus is a Magician gnome who prefers to wear a special blue cap decorated with stars and circles. He wears wooden clogs on his feet. His outfit also includes the traditional red and white striped tights of the Woodland gnomes. Crocus is a general and the commander-in-chief of the gnome army of Woodland.

Crosswort is a dentist gnome who resides with the Woodland folk. He wears wooden clogs on his feet. His outfit also includes the traditional red and white striped tights, and wooden clogs, of the Woodland gnomes.

David is a Forest Gnome with magic powers. David always wears a red cap and royal blue jacket, brown pants and belt, and tan boots. David has a white mustache and beard and a jolly nature.

Lives in village of Rainbow's End and he runs a windmill where he grinds acorns into flour for use by the baker, Flap Jack and the other gnomes of Rainbow's End.

Firebrand is a blacksmith who lives in the Gnome Village located in Woodland. He is often seen wearing a bent-over cap, singed by dragon flame, that he uses in his trade as a blacksmith. Firebrand has a red beard, mustache, eyebrows and hair. He is most often pictured wearing his leather apron, wooden clogs and the famous red and white striped tights of Woodland. Firebrand wears a hoop earring in his left ear. He is field marshal of the gnome army of Woodland.

Lives in village of Rainbow's End and bakes the best acorn bread for consumption by the gnomes of Rainbow's End.

Franz is known as the black gnome of Woodland. Franz was kicked out of the Gnome Village in Woodland for his wicked deeds. He wears black clothing including black and white tights. He also prefers the famous wooden clogs of Woodland. Franz always wore a black patch over his left eye and was often seen with a quiver of arrows. He has a black mustache and eyebrows however his hair and beard are white.

Goodness the Gnome lives in Brambledown and helps the animals of Brambledown.

Grout is a miner gnome who is learning to be one of the Train Engineers of the Boland Belle engine that pulls the train engineered by Lobgob, the eldest son of the Chief Gnome of the Village of Boland Banks deep in the Forest of Boland.

Gurtweed is a miner gnome and younger brother of Lobgob, the eldest son of the Chief Gnome of the Village of Boland Banks deep in the Forest of Boland. Gurtweed was recently married.

Judge Klause is a wise judge usually pictured in a royal blue robe with white trim and red cap. He has a white mustache, beard and hair. Klause helps other gnomes to solve their problems. He is a great traveler. His assistant is young Danny the gnome.

Lisa is a married female who always wears a kerchief over her hair confirming her married status.

Little Gnome resides with the gnome Arn. It is not stated in the book, however because he lives with Arn, I surmise that he is a house gnome.

Lobgob is the eldest and clever son of Hal o' the Hobb, Chief of the Village of Boland Banks. Lobgob made a railway called the Forest of Boland Light Rail and a little engine called the Boland Bell. He is a bachelor who enjoys fishing. Lobgob is 11 inches tall, a miner gnome and Train Engineer.

Lock 'Em Up Loopy is a miner gnome who is a policeman for the Village of Boland Banks deep in the Forest of Boland. He wears a uniform with a blue coat and big silver buttons.
