Put in your favourite CD, or pop in your favourite movie, pour yourself your drink of choice and sit back for hours of fun!
Preferred Material:
Heat Gun
good absorbant sponge
Balled up nylon (don't use the cheap king, it will scratch the leather)
Quality black shoe polish (Kiwi Black or Parade Gloss Black) and black liquid polish
Soft Kiwi cloth
Scotch Pad (thin green rectangular type)
0000 steel wool
Paper towels or rags
Paste floor wax (Aerowax not acrylic wax)
Ice cold water or a whole lotta saliva
Method:
Preparing the boot BEFORE applying polish
Wear the boots to break the leather in
LIGHTLY rub the boots with the steel wool and remove any flakes
Apply a generous coat of floor wax, use the heat gun to melt it into the leather, then wipe it in before it cools using paper towel or rag. (this removes the factory finish) The other option is to use rubbing alcohol and wipe away.
2. Polishing
Apply black polish with damp sponge to entire boot
Melt the polish using a heat gun, and let it cool
Buff with nylon ball
Repeat six times
3. Spit Shine
Wrap Kiwi cloth tight around finger and dampen (Spit or water)
Press finger into polish and pull out (too much polish is non-conducive to spit polishing)
You will want more water and less polish
apply in light circular motion
Alternate water and polish
continue until surface is glossy
repeat until surface is smooth as glass
