Description
of Artwork
My artwork depicts contemporary
topics such as today’s obsession on body, fitness pushed to the
extreme, bodybuilding and space. Our society is so
preoccupied with the perfect body but yet remains unfamiliar to the
fact that it is surrounded, nonetheless, by emotions in the training,
the relationship and the goals. I use sculptural and muscular
bodies because they deserve to be worshiped as they have been
throughout history, the representation of our
mythologies, emotions and aspirations.
Personal History
Looking back, I think Art has
always played a significant part in my life. My youth in a small
francophone village in Quebec was surrounded by religious art. As
a teenager, I moved away to study art related subjects. After a number
of years of clinical work routine and not much art, I recently
rediscovered the part of me that finds art enjoyable and
relaxing. I enjoy bodybuilding and I admire artists such as
Michelangelo, Rodin, Corno, Frank Frazetta and Boris Vallejo who
master and idealize the human figure.
