Note: These colors are my recommendations for painting 6mm to 10mm miniatures. These colors are 'scale' in that they can be used without lightening. They are best used with a white undercoat, in fact I don't recommend any other color. Generally, these colors will need a wash of some sort to shade. If you follow the steps on the Painting One Color tips section ( here: http://www3.telus.net/Ritterkrieg/single.htm) you will have a decent looking result.

German N. African Tanks HUMBROL 63 with white added. H63 is a bit too dark, add a little white for scale.

German Tank Dark Yellow HUMBROL 83 A bit of white/yellow can be added if you like.

German Tank Grey HUMBROL 27 Keep it light - best grey I have found, makes for easier shadowing.

German Camo Red Brown HUMBROL 186 Good all-round Red/Brown. Brush or airbrush. Add 160 to darken. To get various red/brown shades, mix H100 with H33.

German Camo Green HUMBROL 80 Nice color for airbrushed green. May be too light for brushwork. Try adding some H117.

German Red Oxide Primer HUMBROL 160 Late-war Armor primer, sometimes used as camo. Brush or airbrush.

Russian Tank Green HUMBROL 86 Best all around Russian color.

Russian Medium Tank Green HUMBROL 86/117 mixed 75/25 % For a greener Russian tank color, for early Russian armor. Can also use H102 instead of H86.

Russian Dark Tank Green HUMBROL 86/116 mixed 75/25 % For a darker Russian tank color, more of a factory-fresh unbleached look. Vary mix to suit.

Russian Camo Earth  HUMBROL 186 or Humbrol 118 Added to some 1943 T-34s.

UK Tank Light Green HUMBROL 150 Fireflies, CMP vehicles etc...

UK Tank Dark Green HUMBROL 117/80 mixed 50/50 % Bren Carriers, Matilda I/IIs etc...

UK Desert sand HUMBROL 103 White can be added for more of a bleached look.

USA Tank Olive Drab HUMBROL 101/100 mixed 75/25 % This is the best match I have found in the Humbrol line to replicate Olive Drab for 6mm. Not too dark. Vary mix to suit.

USA Vehicle Olive Drab HUMBROL 101/60 mixed 75/25 % For a more brown Olive Drab use H60 (red). Again, vary mix to suit.

USA Brown Tarps HUMBROL 170 Halftrack roof covers,

French Tank Base Yellow HUMBROL 103 Base color on French Cavalry Tanks.

French Camo Red Brown HUMBROL 186 Red camo color on French Cavalry Tanks.

French Camo Green HUMBROL 80 Green camo color on French Cavalry Tanks.

Recommended Infantry Colors for painting 6mm.

German Uniform Feldgrau (Field Grey) HUMBROL 31 or H111 with H90

H31 is ok but dries a little too green. Best is H111 mixed 60/40 with H90.

German Uniform Afrika Korp. HUMBROL 72 or 84 with white added. So many choices, 72 is a good start. Various shades available by adjusting the amount of white.

German Helmet HUMBROL 91 or HUMBROL 75 (late) Color varied historically but I use H91 for maximum contrast. I use H91 for early war, H75 for late.

Canadian Uniform Khaki HUMBROL 119/150 mixed 50/50 % I use 150 mixed with 119 in equal parts. The result is a slightly greener Khaki and looks right to me.
UK Uniform Khaki Europe HUMBROL 26 with a little HUMBROL 118 Mix in a little H118 to keep it distinct from the Russian Khaki.

UK Uniform Africa HUMBROL 94 with white added. Again, many choices, 94 is a good start. Various shades available by adjusting the amount of white.

UK Helmet HUMBROL 116 TESTORS 1714 Humbrol base coat with Testors 1714 touched to the edge and top.

1943 Russian Uniform Khaki HUMBROL 26 Uniform Color varied greatly from the M43 Gymnostroika Khaki to an almost Field Grey.

Russian Helmet TESTORS 1714 Can be glossed up a bit with Future acrylic floor polish prior to dullcote.

USA Uniform Europe 44-45 Tunics / Pants HUMBROL 150 with white added. Good all round US uniform color.

USA Uniform Europe 44-45 Pants HUMBROL 118 or TESTORS 1701 I've seen a darker earth color more like chocolate but I err on the side of lightened scale.

USA Helmet HUMBROL 116 or  H155 with black  H116 looks good, but H155 is more accurate. I darken it for contrast as it is too light by itself.
