How do we go from the blister... |
...To this? "...*crackle*...Ja Otto, it looks like a thumb to me as vell!" |
Step 1a |
Tape up your thumbs and get out the x-acto! Flash and mold seams have to go...and we gotta tame that barrel! |
Step 1b |
Our model is mounted on a 3" roofing nail with the cyano and primed white. (this would pass for winter camo - not!) |
Step 2a |
Base coated by brush, try and keep it thin and even. No house paint here! |
Step 2b |
Camo - if desired it then added via airbrush or brush as per your preference. I tend to use the thumbnail as a start area for the airbrush! |
Step 2c |
Turret gets more of the same. Now where have we seen this gizmo before?...um...can't seem to remember...* |
Step 3 |
Here we see the wash mixture - between a black and rust brown. This may depend on overall vehicle color, leaning toward brown or green as you see fit. |
Touch off the wash. Less is more. This is the way we wash the tank... |
Step 4 |
The model has had a 1 hour air-dry and is beaten sense-less with a flat wet sable. Sound like fun? Starting to pick up some highlights here and wear off a bit of the green camo...mold on the thumb is becoming chronic! |
Step 5 |
Now we add selective washes and rust stains, almost done... |
Step 6 & 7 |
The extremely light drybrushing is done. Tools, track and cables painted. Finally found the turret lost in the rug! Now lets go hunt some Russkies! |
