Thanks to All Donators!

We wish to thank everyone who has donated to the Lawrence Trudeau Bursary over the past two years and I wish to give credit to Roy Potter for making the CD's we have been selling. To update everyone, we have given four bursaries out to date, to namely, Mickey Reeves for banjo, Debbie Lippmann for fiddle, Chad Young for banjo, and Tamaya Turcotte for fiddle.

Mickey Reeves took his bursary at Sorento last summer and it was very evident at the AGM that it was money well spent. He certainly impressed everyone with his playing there with his friends, J.J. Frohlich on guitar and Mike Derickson on base and some "older" players. Harvey Muller was heard to say "that he was really tired after playing with them because he really had to go some to keep up". The three boys call themselves the Rocky Mountain Ramblers, so keep that name in mind because you're in for a treat if you can catch them at some festival somewhere. I'm sure some of you have had that priveledge as they did get to most of the festivals that I know of.

Tamaya Turcotte is taking her bursary at Gavin Lake this summer, but the crowd at Falkland was treated to her fiddle playing on Friday night and she even was asked to do an encore. She just turned nine and she could only appear on Friday night because she had a big birthday party on Saturday. She is a very focused young girl and told me she "really enjoys playing". Her grandpa Gerry is very proud of her and he accompanys her on guitar and he says "she really keeps him on his toes". She will go far with her playing as well. If it isn't good enough that she is so good on the fiddle, she also plays accordian and mandolin.

Debbie Lippmann took her lessons at 108 Mile Ranch this spring and she really enjoyed her time there. She has really come a long way with the fiddle as well. She joins us (Summerland) at our jams in the winter at Peachland and also at our weekly private jams. She has been playing a wide variety of music besides bluegrass and is becoming a well rounded fiddle player.

Chad Young is taking his lessons at Sorento this summer, I think on banjo, altho' he is also leaning toward the guitar as well. He has been a little shy at showing his stuff, but he makes himself available to do other things at the festivals he attends. Chad is always willing to do whatever needs to be done at a festival and I know his help is appreciated. Keep up the good work and I hope you enjoy the lessons at Sorento this year.
