Welcome to the SVL&RCo, a layout built by Carl Sparks (carls@telus.net) in HO scale (1ft = 3.5mm).

The layout, measuring 11 ft. x 13 ft., is of free lance design set in 1935, when steam was still the Bull of the Woods, and is typical of an operation near the west coast of British Columbia.

Construction was started in 1970. The layout features an operating incline, used to lower the log cars down a 30% grade on their way to the sawmill. Scenery is virtually complete and several scenes are animated. Detailing and upgrading are still being carried out.

Digital command control (DCC) is used for train operation, together with Soundtraxx sound decoders. A crew of three is kept busy during an operating session.
