Market on Yates Ernie Skinner owner of the “Market on Yates” who dropped by our picket line @ 826 Yates the morning of Friday August 26, 2005 & gave us $500.00 worth of gift certificates to his store. (50 X $10.00)  He said he appreciated us supporting him and he wanted to return the favor. I have distributed the gift certificates to as many of our members as I can on the different picketing shifts at Yates St. What a nice man…I’m sure he’ll be getting even more business from all of us now.
IBEW We had a member from IBEW stop by (Bob??) and he brought us a box of Tim Horton donuts. This was also the morning of Friday August 26th. I saw him there talking with some of our guys & didn’t know he brought us donuts. One of the guys thought his name was Bob. Maybe a card should be sent to the local IBEW office thanking their members for coming down to the line & giving encouragement to our TWU members.
Pat Malone Also that same morning someone asked  when he arrived at Yates St “Where are the donuts?” a little while later he left & came back with 4 large boxes of Tim Horton donuts. We already thanked him. (He’s one of the good ones) I don’t know; is that all the thanks we can send him?
HEU,CUPW, BCGEU,CUPE On Tuesday August 23rd there was an impromptu rally that happened from 5-7 pm by members of the “Communities Solidarity Coalition”. There were approximately 30 members from HEU,CUPW, BCGEU,CUPE…etc. They came out to show their support for us & brought a box of apples & bottled water. Some in their group mentioned that a gathering of support for us TWU members may happen on a weekly basis. A thank you should be sent to the CSC for all their support.
BC Transit Also the evening of the rally a BC Transit driver pulled away from the bus stop up the block, and then stopped the bus in front of our picket line, he got off the bus & told the crowd “I wanted to be here with you but I have to get those folks home.” We all cheered & shook his hand then off he went. He and all the bus drivers have shown us great support with their honks & waves as they drive past. A card to the local CAW office or where the transit drivers dispatch from thanking them for their support would be great.
Laurel Willman Hi Kelvin, I don't think you even got to see the slate stone that I painted with Koi fish and lily pads. I raffled it off to all of the 14 shifts between Quadra and Yates and caught a few of the flying squads.
It was drawn on payday and the winner was Laurie Fowler of Local 21.. I raffled the tickets for $1.00 each and raised $130.00 for the hardship fund. I thank everyone who purchased a ticket or tickets for their support to help a brother or sister in need. In Solidarity, Laurel
CAW Local 114 & 333 & 4276 Thank you for all the wonderful support you provide the TWU. This support is shown in many ways, rallies, pizza nights, leafleting, T- shirts supporting the TWU. Getting your notices out to all your members on how they can support the TWU, funding for joint CAW/TWU initiatives and supplying meeting rooms.
CAW are planning to host a Thanksgiving lunch for TWU picketers this Saturday, October 8, at the McKenzie/Quadra picket line from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. CAW members will prepare a Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings and serve it to a shift change of picketers on the line, come rain or shine.
Terry Giffin - Fleet Maintenance Facility CAPE BRETON Providing Quadra Street Picketers Starbuck prepaid coffee cards. Greatly appreciated, on these cold November nights! Thanks to all your fellow workers from Shift #6.
