Gouda reluctantly goes into the family business and becomes a Boogie monster, instead of following his life long dream of becoming a Park Ranger. After going through a difficult time at Oogie Boogie School, Gouda finds his first job at a home where there are no children to scare but, instead, an elderly couple who scare him. It is up to Gouda to convince the powerful and mysterious "Big Cheese" that being a Boogie Monster is not for him.

This story is told through a chain of letters between Gouda and his cousin Onit. It is filled with many wondrous characters and fantastic illustrations. I have really enjoyed writing this story.
