They are a band of teachers who got together one day just to jam and play some music to break the everyday life of teaching. The first song they played? Green Onions by Booker T and the MG's.

The band decided to play it at the bi-weekly assembly for the kids. They were a hit! They got right back to work on some more songs. After trying out a number of different songs they hit it right with "Midnight Hour" by Wilson Picket, but with the Christmas season approaching, the words were re-writen to the "Christmas Hour". The song was a huge hit at the Christmas concert. The Burnt Squirrels were born!

Eventually the band would practice once to twice a week and play a new selection of songs at every assembly. What was really satisfying for the Squirrels was inspiring the kids in the school to play music as well. Eventually the odd student were invited to play along with the Squirrels.

The Squirrels are still going strong. They have played at many parties, fund raisers and even made a brief apperance on JR Country FM in Vancouver... And blew the roof off every time. We don't know how much longer they will last though with continuing school district Layoffs (which will affect at least 2 of the members) but however long they play, the band will always try to set the place on fire.
