Born and raised in Victoria, British
Columbia, Canada, Michaele Freeman has been influenced by the beauty and
power of the ocean surrounding Vancouver Island on which she lives. Michaele has been involved in creative endeavours all her adult life experimenting in such mediums as fabric, ceramics, stained glass, pottery, photography, pencil drawing, watercolour and acrylic painting, mixed media and traditional rug hooking. She enjoys the Westcoast themes, having a love of the ocean and the surrounding scenery. Travel throughout British Columbia has inspired her to capture the wonderful scenery of her province. The beauty of flowers, nature and her garden also inspire her. Michaele has completed commissions including pet and children portraits in pencil (from photos). For more information, please contact us. Some of Michaele's watercolour paintings have been displayed in the Legislative Dining Room (Parliament Buildings) in Victoria, capital city of her province, and paintings of Fisgard Lighthouse are in a local corporate collection. Her work has been displayed, at the Chalet Estate Winery; Gorge on Art (juried) since 2002; Royal Roads University Mothers Day Paint-In and Craft Show; Artists in a Country Garden (juried) at the Horticultural Centre of the Pacific in Victoria; Community Council of Greater Victoria (CACGV) LOOK show since 2006; and Studio 30 Art Club exhibitions for the past few years. Her recent interest in traditional rug hooking has taken Michaele in a new direction. Her work was seen in "Excellence in Crafts" in 2006 in conjunction with the CACGV LOOK show. She designs and hooks her own patterns, some of which were inspired by her paintings. Michaele is featured as a Canadian rug hooker in the Spring 2007 issue of "A Needle Pulling Thread" magazine—a magazine that features Canadian fibre artisans. |
