Delyse's experience
spans the past 21 years working with individuals, couples and groups.
Originally from England Delyse moved to Canada 15 years ago. She began her
career working as a social worker in London, England. Through this she gained
a broad experience working with many different clientele including child protection,
mental health, special needs and the elderly. However, she felt increasingly frustrated
by the limitations of being unable to facilitate significant change in people's
lives and began training in Gestalt psychotherapy.
Delyse trained for eight years in this approach both in England and Vancouver,
Canada. The gestalt approach has provided a foundation to her work that is based
on existential and humanistic values of living in the present, personal responsibility
and freedom, and a holistic view of individuals.
Since living in Canada, Delyse has worked in various organizations working with
trauma and abuse, such as transition houses and sexual assault centers. This expanded
her knowledge of trauma from the perspective of working with adults. In addition,
she gained further training and experience in substance abuse.
Delyse started her own practice ten years ago in addition to working part time
in various organizations. Through working privately with individuals she has gained
experience in many areas which include; depression, childhood abuse, self esteem
and loss, addictions, DID, ritual abuse, transitions and decision making, and
general personal growth. Delyse's special interests are working with trauma, couples
and groups.
Delyse completed her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from U.B.C. in 1996.
