Byron James, JRfm Country DJ: ‘Pat Chessell has a unique style, combining old country with new country creating his own country, which is definitely appealing to all country music fans’. These are just a few of the things that have been said about Pat Chessell, a solo artist from Vancouver, BC who has made quite a name for himself on the Western Canadian music scene. Pat has opened for such acts at The Brent Lee Band and The Town Pants and has played his own shows in some of Vancouver’s hottest nightclubs such as Doolins Irish Pub, The Limerick Junction, The Roxy, Roosters and many more. Heavily influenced by acts such as the Johnny Cash, The Clancy Brothers, Pogues and Blue Rodeo, he has gained a strong, loyal fanbase due to his exceptional acoustic guitar playing, warm, passionate vocals and his [often downright funny] stage presence. Chessell has been gifted with the ability to win over any audience – no matter where the venue might be – by providing them with an eclectic mix of folk/pop music. He can also throw in any popular favourite for audience members, making him an ideal pub act and an equally strong original act! Pat has recorded Rainy Tuesday Morning, an original which can best be described as Celtic roots-rock. It received airplay on small market stations across British Columbia and was released on a compilation put together by JRfm DJ Byron James of his favourite local acts. The compilation featured Pat's song next to songs recorded by popular British Columbia bands such as the Cruzeros, Brent Lee and Ken McCoy. He is currently working on completing his debut solo album with such noteable producers as John Roles and Duane Keogh.
