About Josefina:

    *Maria Josefina Montoya is a young Hispanic girl growing up in Santa Fe New Mexico in 1824. Josefina has three older sisters, Ana the eldest is married and has two little boys. Juan and Antonio. Next is Francisca who is 15 and 12 year old Clara.

    In "Meet Josefina" Josefina's Mama has just died, so her family is all very sad. But then her aunt, Tia Dolores comes from Santa Fe to live with her parents, Josefina's Abuelita and Abuelito. And she agrees to stay at the rancho to help out Josefina and her sisters.

       In "Happy Birthday Josefina" Josefina rescues a tiny baby goat who lost it's mother. She names the little goat Sombrita and soon Sombrita is healthy and strong.

    Josefina likes weaving, playing her little wooden bird flute and tending the Flowers that used to be her mama's.

    Josefina's aunt, Tia Magdalena is teaching Josefina to be a curondaro. Which is like a doctor who heals people with medicines made out of herbs and plants.
