Priest-in-Charge Annual Report
All Saints T.A.C. Renfrew
January 25, 2007
I can only report, with clarity and without bias, on those issues that have occurred since Bishop Wilkinson appointed me Priest-in-Charge effective September 1
st
, 2007. Ergo:
In addition to the two scheduled masses on a Sunday morning, there is now the addition of Morning Prayer at 9:45A.M.
Unless specified otherwise, a mass for every Red Letter day in the B.C.P. has been instituted, as well as select Black letter days.
We have had five baptisms, no confirmations, no funerals in this period of time. I have also performed four anointings and, though always available, no confessions during the same period of time.
I have visited parishioners on a pastoral basis when needed (at home or in hospital). I have also begun select general visitations to the parish families in general. Every parish family on our list has been contacted by phone or letter.
There have been several opportunities for counseling of parishioners, but other than that brief mention there will be no further elaboration of this point for confidentiality reasons.
Outside of these visible duties I also perform more mundane tasks such as paperwork, returning phone calls, and other sundry administrative tasks. When in the church several parishioners have dropped in to visit. I also have to prepare the info for the weekly bulletin, the sermon etc.
Once a month I celebrate two masses at Wentworth Manor (one for the seniors, and the other for the Alzheimer’s patients).
I also perform outreach for Our Lord whenever the opportunity arises.
On a personal note, outside of my academic qualifications, I am a member of the Order of Holy Innocents, and will soon be inducted into the SSC. (A traditional and orthodox society of Anglican priests).
In summary:
All Saints now has more services, more scheduled visitations, and more opportunity for the catholic expression of the Sacraments.
Moving forward it is my intention to start some educational lectures, hopefully re-institute the music programme at All Saints, and get more parishioners to attend mid-week masses!!
The bishop has asked if I am willing to become rector of All Saints and I have stated that I would. My experience and ministry over these past few months has been, for the most part, enjoyable and satisfying. I love everyone in the parish and am very pleased and excited at the active nature of groups within the church such as the Women’s Group, and the outreach in the wider community. Before I undertake this position however, it is expedient that I receive the favour of the parish in this regard. To that end I will put it to the parish at the AGM in the form of a vote. Yours in Christ.
Respectfully submitted,
Father Tony+
