Amber - The Voice behind Merida

Hi, my name is Amber. I am the one hiding behind the scenes when you watch Merida videos, or read her tweets, check her facebook, and read her diary!   I have been saving animals since I was 3 years old. Yes, 3 years old! A mama cat had kittens in my dads project car and I had found them and got to keep one. I named him Slim. It kept going from there.
In a terrible car accident in 2011, I fought going into a coma with my concussion and I was left disabled by constant dizziness of neurological cause, JUST like Merida! Obviously the universe brought us together. Who better to take care of Merida and know what she is going through?

Knigget

In 1998, I saved a cat from the euthanasia list at the shelter. He was 8 months old and had been there for 3 months. They didn't have room, and I really couldn't see why he had not been adopted yet because he was rubbing against the cage and was the friendliest cat. To this day, he still is! His name is Knigget (nig-get) and he is now 17 years old and going strong!

Star

In 2003, a litter of manx kittens lost their mother and they were left to fend for themselves at 6 weeks old. Kids in the neighbourhood were abusing them but throwing them into dumpsters, sexually abusing them, spray painting them, making them dance, and hitting them. Two kittens escaped and three were left in the dumpster after the kids were scared away. The little grey and black manx locked eyes with me. She was spray painted hot pink, her ears and nose were black, her eyes had brown crusts all over them, and she was bleeding from her anus. I took her home, cleaned her up, and discovered she was a beautiful calico with PINK not black ears and nose! Having a 5 point star in both eyes, she was named Star. She dislikes people and other animals, and I knew she would be euthanized if I were to turn her over to a shelter. So I kept her. She is now 14 years old.

Alastar

In Dec 2011, there was an ad for a 4 month old puppy that was free. I was searching for a dog to possibly fill my heart where the loss of Tiggy left an open hole and to hopefully help me keep exercising more than just my physio therapy. The ad stated that they were not allowed pets, and they had got the dog for Christmas. The landlord found out a few days later and gave them 4 days to get rid of him. The pound and shelters were full, nobody would take him, so the option they tried was putting him up online to give away, or turning him loose out on the highway. The cut off was in mere hours when I viewed the ad. I had to save this poor thing and rehome him if I could! Poor little puppy couldn't be out in the cold winter, running the highway. I... ended up keeping him. He is named Alastar. (Meaning Irish Celtic: Defender of man) He is Meridas best friend and babysitter!

Gary

Meridas daddy, whom she loves the most!
