Posted Sept 22 2009. Last Practice I had a number of requests for more shooting so this practice will focus on shooting. Please read the Wisdom from the Bench for this week we will be working on these things during the practice. Also please review the Archived Wisdom from last year to get ready for the first game.

Posted Sept 29 2009. Good game everyone. As you can see from the game stats every one contributed to this win. Lets keep the momentum going. I will not be at the next three games so good luck and keep shooting the more shots the better. Remember the best place to score is stick side. I will update the web site when I get back. Can someone give me a game summary of the games I miss? I will post your text here.

Posted Oct 14 2009. Hi every one just got back from sailing and updated the site stats from the last few games. Looks like they were tough ones! Remember the mantra for this year, shoot stick side. Every shot on the net has a chance to go in so shoot when ever you can. This quick shot has the goalie out of position, forcing her to make a desperation save. Shoot for the open part of the net. Learn to look for the net's mesh and that's were your shot will go. See you at the next game.

Posted Oct 16 2009. Good game every one. We started off with a goal in the first 15 seconds of the game. Shannon won the face off and rushed the net and jammed it passed the goalie. The momentum was ours through the first. The Penguins answered back in the second with an open rebound from the side of the net. With only 1 minute left to play in the second Lorraine was one on one with the defense. Lorraine stepped inside and left the defense in the dust for a short break that froze the goalie, scoring with an back hand that lifted the water bottle. The Penguins tied the game with a goal in the early part of the 3rd. With 4 minutes left to play Lorraine found Sandy in front of the net and she finessed the puck around the goalie to get the game winner. The defense had an out standing game. They cleared the zone quickly and forced the play into the offensive zone for most of the game. Remember look for the net mesh and shoot stick side. See you on Sunday.

Another win for the Jaguars, even if it started off a little slow. First we didn't realize that it happen to be a home ice and that we needed to get a score keeper. On the Jaguars home page it did show us as the visitors, Kevin will pay a little more attention to that. Megan has taken the responsibility of checking the SAWHA website and making sure that when it's a home ice that she will bring the score keeper. (Thanks!) Kevin was going to go in and score keep but we found out from the ref's wouldn't allow it. We found someone upstairs that was able to help us out. Not sure what the ref's were doing having a conversation (wasting time) by the visitors net knowing that our ice is only 1 hour and 15 minutes long. The puck dropped at 7:00 15 minutes has already gone. Do you think that we had enough time or did the time get dropped down before the end of the game? With over 8 minutes still left in the game the time needed to be dropped down to 2 minutes. (how surprising!) We had three full sets of wings two centers and three D. We made the game harder then it should have been. After the first period the score was only 1 - 0 for the Jaguar with the Ice Packs having all kinds of chances to tie the score. This game would have been a great chance to tone our skills on skating with the puck and do some stick handling but instead we though we would try and pass it around the opponents. As you can guess the other team happen to just be in the correct position to intercept the pass. After the second period the score was now 3-1 for the Jaguars. We tried to change things around for the third period by switching Lorraine and Megan. With the third period being dropped down in time we were able to put two more pass the goalie. The ref seemed to have Coutney's number as she spend more time in the box then actually on the ice. Shannon was able to put one by the goalie while we were short handed. Way to go we did win the game but we just need to figure out how we can step it up and play the way we can. Let's see how we can do on Tuesday against the Raiders.

Posted Nov 11 2009 by Kevin.  Just a short update. The game against the Grizzlies and the referees. We started off in the first with the Grizzlies in our end  most of the time the scored first with 4 minutes left in the period. Pattie evened the score 2 minutes later with a shot stick side and nice team work form the whole line. The second was a tie with chances on both sides. The 3rd started off with us pulling ahead with a nice goal form Rebecca. The Grizzlies tied it up 2 minutes later. As the period was coming to an end the referees that were letting every thing go started to call every thing. We had a lot of really bad calls that lead to a 5 on 3 with 2 minutes left. We held them off until only 4 second left to play.

Nov 7 Posted by Kevin.  Another close one that we should have won. We started off the game on a good pace and kept the pressure on for most of the first period. We scored two quick goals about 30 seconds apart in the middle of the first to put us up 2 nothing.  Janay opened the scoring and Lesley on the very next shift. The Black Widows scored one with only a minute left in the period to come with in one. The second period was filled with penalties for both sides. Once again the referring was questionable. We need to stay calm and don't let it get to us retaliation is one of our worst habits. The 3rd had less penalties but was getting very rough and the Black Widows tied the game with only 20 seconds to play. We need to control the puck more in the last minutes of the game see you Sunday

Posted Nov 12 by Kevin. Sorry for the delay. The game on Sunday started off a bit slow we don't play 3 centers and 2 sets of wings very often. Lesley and Pattie hooked up to open the scoring in the first. Sandy and Pattie each scored one in the second and put us up 3 nothing. In the 3rd Janay and Lesley scored to put us up 5 nothing. The CCS Oilers pushed hard and scored one to end the shut out. We had a good game always nice to have more then a one goal lead coming to the end of the game. See you next Tuesday in Canmore.

Posted Nov 20 by Kevin. We had a very good game against the Black Widows even thought the score was not the best. We started off very short on skaters only 2 defense and 5 forwards. Janay opened up the scoring with a nice hard drive to the net and finish. The Black Widows pushed hard to even the score but were not able to score until the end of the period. A solid effort by every one. All the late players now arrived so we had 6 forwards and 3 defense. The Black Widows score 2 more early in the second. The Defense played a solid second period and held the pressure on the Widows. Jody pinched in hard and controlled the board. Megan got free in the slot and Jody put a pass on her tape. Megan put her first Goal of the season pass a sprawling goalie. We held the Widows to one more. This was a great improvement over the last time we played them good job by everyone. See you Next Tuesday

Posted Dec 7 by Kevin. It was good to see all the injured player back in the line up. Sorry for the delay in posting this week. The game started off a bit slow with the Penguins put an early goal in. We were slow to get going but were up to full speed by the second. Sandy scored the first with some tick tack toe passing in a rush that started in our own end to even the score. The Penguins scored again 2 minutes later. We turned up the pressure and spent a lot of time in the Penguins end of the ice. Rebecca found the net on the glove side nothing but net nice shot Rebecca to tie the game at 2 each. Sheena put the go ahead goal in with only 2 minutes left in the second. Then 5 minutes in to the 3rd Sheena posted her second of the game putting us up 2. The rest of the game was back and forth with each team having chances. All in all I thought that this was one of our best played games of the year. Good work every one.

Posted Dec 11 by Kevin. We started off a bit slow and the Raiders got the first goal at 5 minutes into the first. We had 3 penalties in the first did a very good job on the penalty kill to hold them to only one. The second was much better we had no penalties, and the score shows it. Our first goal was put in by Sheena with some hard work banging at the loose puck around the net. Our next goal came less then a minute later Patty got the puck off the boards at the blue line and held the zone. Patty let a hard wrist shoot go that made it to the net through traffic and Sandy popped in the rebound. The third period started out a bit slow with lots of end to end plays. There was a number passing plays that were spectacular but we were unable to close them off with a goal. Two that I just have to mention because they were so close first was a high flip from Patty deep in our zone to a breaking Lorraine at center. The puck just missed about 10 things in the rafters and stayed in play to land just in front of Lorraine but bounced back instead of forward so close to a break away. The Second was Sandy and Lesley cycled in the corner and hit Lorraine in the slot breaking to the weak side but couldn't pull the trigger on the shoot nice work Sandy, Lesley, and Lorraine. With 5 minutes to play Sandy and Lesley got the puck back to Patty who was shading into the high slot and made no mistake with a hard shot to the blocker side to score our 3rd. With only a minute and a half to play Lesley found Lorraine with a rink wide pass breaking behind the defense off the bench. Lorraine was all alone and made no mistake topping up the score for a win of 4 to 1. Nice work every one see you Sunday.

Posted Dec 15 by Kevin.  Last game was not our best. We had only one regular defense thanks to all the forwards that filled in as defense for the game. It was very close for the first and second with lots of good chances. The 3rd is where we really fall apart with penalties. We held them scoreless on two 3 on 5 power plays. We played most of the 3rd short handed and you can't win from in side the box.  See every one tonight.

Posted Dec 16 by Kevin. The second of a double header with the Phantoms was a much better game for us.  It was still a close game with lots chances for both sides. We were able to stay out of the penalty box for most of the game but still had some incidents of retaliation. I know the Phantoms are a team that does a lot of clutch and grabbing that goes unnoticed by the referees which can be very frustrating but we need to give the referee the chance to make the calls. Good work by every one on the penalty kill just remember that we always have one forward deep on the puck carrier and the second in position to take over the pressure of the puck carrier review the archived Wisdom to see how I want us to kill penalties. Have a good Christmas and see you next year.

Posted Jan 13 by Kevin.   Good work every one. We stayed out of the box, only two penalty in that game. Controlling the puck in the offensive zone does two things for us it keeps the pressure on the defenders and keeps the puck close to the goal. This also reduces the oppositions opportunities to score. See you Sunday.

Posted Feb 3 by Kevin.  Sorry I have been slow on updating the web site.  Its been over a month since my last posting.  What an exciting game we had last night!! We started off the game with no goalie so 6 skaters for the first shift. Lorraine filled in as a goalie defenseman and made a early stop on a hard shot from the face off circle.  We then called our time out and the Melissa changed in lightning fast and we were back to full strength. The Melissa had no warm up and the first shot slipped in high glove side putting us down one. Early in the second Patti made a great defensive play to hold the puck in the offensive zone unfortunately she got hurt on the play and had to leave the game. Let me know how your doing Patti. We held the score until the Grizzlies slipped a second one into the corner with 10 minutes left to play in the 3rd.  30 seconds later Janay put our first one in from the high slot with a quick wrist shot. This put us one down with 10 minutes to play. The Grizzlies got a penalty with 1:29 left to play we pulled the goalie and after a scary moment when they had the puck only feet from our goal we recovered and rushed back to score with only 36 seconds to play. We kept the puck in there end and ran out the time. Good job by every one. Olympics will be starting soon see you Saturday.

Posted Feb 16 2010 by Kevin. Not much to say about the game other then in was very frustrating for every one. The referrers let the game get out of control with questionable calls and not making the calls that were needed. This all lead to a very unpleasant game thanks every one for keeping your cool for the most part.
