THE TA DAA LADY SHOW

    

(see "Ta Daa Lady") Angela has a wide range of musical and storytelling performances for children in her repertorie. She is well known for The Ta Daa Lady Show, an interactive, musical performance for family audiences. Original songs, tap dancing, mime & puppets. The show can vary in length and can be combined with storytelling and/or face painting.Ta Daa performs in theatres, festivals, schools, special events and private parties.

EVELYN ROTH FESTIVAL ARTS

Angela is Canadian storyteller for www.evelynroth.com. Evelyn is based in Austrailia, and is the creator of unique and colorful inflatables and costumes. Angela has two inflatables, an Igloo and a Salmon, along with 50 costumes for costume parades. The children enter the inflatable for interactive stories based on Legends, followed by a costume parade. In 2001/2002, Angela was in Singapore and Malaysia with Evelyn, perfoming a series of Legends which she adapted for the stage and for inside an inflatable dragon.

Angela's storytelling performances may contain music, mask, dance, mime, body puppets and hand-manipulated puppets in her improvisation based storytelling.

 

PETER & THE WOLF

Angela presents Peter and the Wolf, as a solo performance of dance, mime, pantomime, body puppets and storytelling. It was originally performed with The Victoria Symphony Orchestra. (Refer to www.artstarts.ca). She also performed solo with the orchestra, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

 

TWO AMUSE

Angela, and Mehlinda Heartt have created a performance called Two Amuse - a combination of short scenes, dances, songs and comedy from the Renaissance and Baroque periods with fabulous costumes designed/created by Mehlinda.

 

Angela and Mehlinda have a Two Amuse performance for adults, both stage and interactive - dances, songs and music (harp and violin) from the above periods, and strolling characters. They have performed for an opening of an Arts Club Theatre production, for a Bacchanalian Wine Festival and for Public Dreams on various occassions, for Schools and for Community Centers.

 

About the Artist

Angela worked for the City of Vancouver as co-creator and performer of schools shows based on environmental themes - A to Z of H20 and Rethink. Angela worked for Theatre Royal, Barkerville Historical Park, as performer, choreographer, director and writer and for Fort Steele Historical Park as actor/director and writer for the Street Theatre program. Angela formed a children's Theatre Company Bearfoot Dance Theatre in Toronto, Canada with Heather Cornell (Artistic Director of Manhatten Tap). In Montreal, she was actor/choreographer for a company Once Upon a Time Theatre.

Angela has continued with her work n Historical Theatre, Dance and Theatre with GVHS in Vancouver, B.C in a variety of Historical plays, Dance performances and Historical Balls specializing in the Renaissance and Baroque periods.

 

TIME TRAVELERS

Angela joins forces with actor/musician, Deva Neill in the Time Travelers - a series of short skits with songs, dances, impersonations, and live music. Deva's musical skills at the keyboard, guitar and saxophone combined with Angela's dancing (including tap dancing and Flamenco) makes for a fun filled evening.

VISUAL ARTIST/STORYTELLER

Angela has been exhibiting her art in galleries, theatre lobbies, dance studios and restaurants in B.C. since the eighties.. In May 2000, she had a solo exhibition of her paintings on Granville Street's Gallery row; Andre Emile Gallery. She had another solo exhibition at Halo Gallery dowtown Vancouver along with her one-woman, storytelling, musical performance Woman in the Wheel in 2002. Woman in the Wheel and Sitting on a Suitcase, one-woman shows for adults was directed by the well-respected director, actor, writer and painter, Micki Maunsell. They are both auto-biographical. Sitting on a Suitcase is based on stories from Micki's past.

 

TEACHER

Angela offers workshops in interactive and theatrical skills and storytelling techniques. She gives workshops to aspiring teachers at Burnaby College in Vancouver, B.C

Angela has been teaching Theatre, Storytelling, Clown and Dance for years. She has taught Dance at University of British Columbia to the BFA acting students, and Voice and Movement for acting students at East Kootenay Community College, Cranbrook, B.C. She taught Acting at Richmond Gateway Theatre, B.C. (children/ adults) and Acting at the Jewish Community Centre (JCC) in Vancouver.

In England she studied directing at the British Theatre Association, taught Movement and Acting at the Actor's Factory in London. She teaches Baroque and Renaissance Dance and Theatre and has taught at Langara College and for three summers at the Okanagan Summer School of the Arts, Penticton B.C where she also taught Acting and clown (all levels). She is presently teaching Baroque Dance through the GVHPS in Vancouver and teaches Acting at Vancouver Youth Theatre.

EDUCATION

Angela Brown received a BFA in Visual Arts/Theatre from Concordia University, Montreal, and a second BFA in Dance/Theatre from York University, Toronto.
