Interactive Storytelling & Costume Parade

Interactive stories (and stage shows) performed inside Evelyn's beautiful, hand-made inflatables like the salmon and Igloo above. After the story, the children dress up in brightly colored costumes for a costume parade. There is a wide assortment of animals and plants for the parade after the Salmon stories...fly like a bird, flutter like a butterfly and bloom like a flower!

"Angela is the most talented, versatile and exciting performer I know. She began her work with Festival Arts six years ago (www.evelynroth.com). I wholeheartedly support Angela in any endeavor and know that whoever she works with is blessed by her presence." Evelyn Roth, Evelyn Roth Festival Arts, Maslin, Australia, September, 2003

The Stories

Angela has adapted the stories from Legends - they include mime,
dance and song with lots of participation. The themes of the stories demonstrate the value of people working together and helping each other through times of need. They pay hommage as well as have great admiration for the power of nature.

Wise Men & Fools

Based on a Native legend - an arrogant prince is transformed into an owl by the Spirit of the River, and with the love of a princess (Many Minds) he is transformed into a salmon...the wisest of fish.

The Terrible Nungwama

Based on a Chinese legend - a young woman is threatened by a terrible monster, and through her inner strength and the help of others, she triumphs over the monster.

Songs & Stories of the West Coast

Angela is Kathleen O'Brian, a Mail Order Bride who came to the West Coast to marry a merchant in Barkerville, B.C., just before the turn of the Century.

She tells stories and sings songs of the wagon ride on the Cariboo Trail, the toil and hopes of the miners.

She recalls The Townsite of Granville, as Vancouver was then called, and asks the children about what life is like nowadays....Do you still travel on a wagon?

The children are enacting the story of Charlie Brown, a known criminal from an old mining town near Fort Steele called Fisherville in the East Kootneys, British Columbia.

Angela has worked for many years in Barkerville and Fort Steele Historic Parks as performer, director, choreographer and writer.

Interactive characters & Roving Puppets

Oggie the Ogogopogo

A nine foot long, interactive puppet made of foam with a moveable mouth. Angela's fake legs hang over the sides of Oggie's serpentine body. Oggie loves to dance, is crazy about people and he likes to nibble on their heads. Don't worry, he has no teeth - he is just a baby.

"Your friendly Ogopogo puppet, the flying bird and the outrageous clown, Ta Daa, were very funny, zany and energized characters. Children of all ages delighted in your special entertainment. There were many faces filled with delight as you created a magical setting for their imaginations to run wild."

Karen Hodson, Manager
Fantasmagalia - The Ultimate Trade Fair
Squamish Chamber of Commerce, Squamish, B.C.

Oggie is great for roving at special events and festivals. He has made appearances at various trade shows.
