Welcome to Alsace a la Carte
The apartment is located in the medieval village of Andlau in the Alsace province of N.E. France near the French Swiss German Border. Surrounded by vineyards and cradled by the Vosges Mountains to the west and the Rhine to the east, Andlau is nestled 20 minutes south of Strasbourg and 3 km south of Barr on the “Routes des Vins”.
The flow of warm Mediterranean air lured the Romans and their vineyards. This historical coincidence of man and nature makes Alsatian wine possible today. The grape harvest or “vendage” is in late September and October.
13 vintners call Andlau home, producing superbly dry, fruity wines with Grand Cru designation.
The moderate climate creates blossoms in March and April. December sees Christmas Markets with spiced, warm wine. "Carnival" festivities begin in February.
