Minutes of the Richmond Aqua Addicts Dive Club
January 13, 2000, Steveston Community Center

Members Present: Kevin, Sylvia, Tim, Emily, Peter, Jackie, Andrew, Laura, Brett & son, Don, Carla, Dave, Scott, Brad, Stanley & Keith

  1. Kevin called the meeting to order at 7:45 p.m.


  2. Kevin wished all of the members a Happy New Year.


  3. Roatan videos are available from Kevin for $10.00.


  4. Membership fees are now due - fees are $25.00 single / $30.00 family.


  5. The January newsletters and all future newsletters are now available in both paper and electronic format - good job on putting together the newsletter in PDF format Sylvia!!!


  6. The Annual "Freeze Your Buns Off Dive" will be Saturday January 15th at Whytecliff Park, 8:00 a.m. first dive, second dive is optional.


  7. Peter is organizing a dive trip to Edmonds Underwater Park. Possible dates include February 26 & 27, but are open to suggestions. Jackie can coordinate accomodations if enough people are interested in staying overnight. Please contact Peter and Jackie if you are interested, and to make arrangements.


  8. Lead Pouring - Dave and Kevin will be making lead weights on January 23. If you are interested in making some new / custom weights then contact Kevin or Dave for details.


  9. Dave & Patricia are organizing an Underwater Easter Duck Hunt on either April 21st or 22nd. Call Dave or Patricia, or watch the newsletter for more details as Easter approaches.


  10. February 20th will be the Annual Ling Cod Egg Mass Count. Details of the count will be available at the next meeting.


  11. The Top Island Econauts will be hosting the Annual May Long Weekend again this year. Spots this year are $145/person and includes 2 days of 2 tank/day diving, and a HUGE buffet style meal on the Saturday night. The dinner is included for divers, and there is a charge of $10.00/person for non-divers. The sign up sheet passed around. Fees for this event must be paid, in FULL, by the end of February. Contact Kevin or Sylvia for more details.


  12. Sylvia is looking into renting a pool for a club pool night so that we can finally accept the valley's offer to put on their Buoyancy obstacle course challenge. Sylvia is checking into rental prices and will report back with more details. If you are interested in and want more information, or wish to help, please contact Sylvia.


  13. We received information from Dive Rescue International. They offer a variety of courses including Ice Diving. If you wish further information please contact Sylvia.


  14. Sylvia read the proposed clause outlining Wolf Eel conservation that would be added as a statement to the RAADC's constitution. After the reading Carla made the motion that the statement be accepted as read, several members seconded the motion. A vote was held and the statment was unanomously approved.


  15. Laura read her poem about how the club's new mascot came about.


  16. Kevin thanked Tim for hosting the Y2K party at his warehouse in Delta. There was plenty of food and drink on hand, and everyone had a great time brining in the new year.


  17. Kevin adjourned the meeting at 8:28 p.m. and had round table discussion.
