This is my Beastly homepage. It is my personal page and I only update it as the situation demands or when I feel like it. Rather like a BLOG. Thanks for being patient.
This particular page tries to keep much of the flavour of my original (as in the "very first" one I made) page.

What's New?

Time sure flies

Okay - I'm a bit behind. Since last post I have had some heart work done. January 2009 was when I went over to the Royal Columbian Hospital to get checked out as I had a tight feeling in my throat that lasted 4 days and got worse if I did anything slightly active. Funny, hockey didn't make it worse but getting up to go to the bathroom would. At any rate - it didn't hurt. Blood work showed that my heart was fixing it's self, so the did an angioplasty procedure. six stents to open 4 blockages on 3 arteries. My Cardiologist says he has never seen that many in someone that walked into emergency. Now I am part of a clinical trial for a med that inceases good clorestrol and helps the body get rid of the bad stuff.

Since then, I have had a few more minor things (just back after 4 weeks off with my low back problems - again!) but overall I am doing okay. Greg (nephew) is getting married this summer - so that is 3 out of my brother's 4 kids that will be hitched now. Mo (sister) wants to buy a place, and is looking in New Westminster where prices might be affordable. I can't see me buying right now, with prices as high as they are and at my age too. The van is paid for now (lease ran out in January 2010) and so the parts are starting to wear out. Sort of to be expected I guess. Olympics came and went. They were a great atmosphere and I'm glad I went down and wandered the crowds a bit. Not much snow on the local mountains - Cypress Bowl had to truck in snow to make the snowboard venues useable. After they were finished, then the mountains got a bunch of snow - best conditions of the year! Canucks just lost in second round of the playoffs for the second time in a row to Chicago. Oh well, next year again!

Gas peaked 2008 at about $1.50/litre and went back to just under $1. Now it is climbing slowly and is at $1.15 today. I wouldn't be surprised if it hit $1.30 - or $1.40 by July. Planning on going to Kootenays again this summer (Mo and I hit Fort Steele in September 09) and maybe cross over to Calgary area for a few days. Stephanie joined us for a Barkerville trip again in August 09, which was a lot of fun.

More Hurts

I'm bored! Good news is that means I have time to update all my blogish sites, which I actually like to do - even though I don't do it often or expect that anyone is actually reading them. This is kind of like a diary, just notes for me, but not so personal (I don't mind others reading it).

So - why am I bored? I'm just finished a week of I.V. antibiotics and still have 3 weeks left before I can go back to work (or hockey!). I developed an Umbilical Hernia and decided to get it repaired. About 10 days later it showed infection, which came on pretty fast. It's much better now and the antibiotics are now in tablet form - I like that more. Not a big fan of needles.

Stephanie is the only one of my ex's kids (they call me Uncle) that is still to graduate. Grade 11 now! Boy - do I feel old sometimes. I watched them all grow up and move onto adult things. I met Stephanie when she was about 4 years old. Time flies.

Anyway - with a little luck I'll get some more sunshine before going back to work - at the NEW LOCATION! My workplace has a brand new building - about 20 minutes closer to home. Now that's great news as gas prices are getting really close to $1.40 / litre.

New Stuff
The new year is in full swing now and here I am still kickin'. Good I guess, considering the alternatives. Christmas came way too fast AGAIN and I have been fighting what I thought was a cold/flu bug since November. Turns out that I have a "Winter Alergy" and that most of what I have is due to that. Great. I also learned today that a stomach problem I have been living with for a while is a hernia and now I get to see a surgeon to talk about fixing it. Oh, ya - does that sound like fun or what! Sigh.

So - the kids are coming back to New Westminster to live (ex's - live with Dad). Sort of. Dan is already here (has his own apartment now) and Sara will move in with her friend to stay where she is, close to friends and work. So the move really only affects Stephanie (the last one not finished school) and her Dad. It will be nice to have her closer again, easier to call her up to play in the snow with me (good kid, still plays in the snow just because I ask her too).

Work is planning on moving in April-ish 2008. The new location is WAY closer for me. Close enough that I may be able to ride a bike to work in better weather. That would be nice and might even get me back into some sort of decent shape.

I have slowed down my hockey after the quad tear (didn't mention that it took about 12 weeks to get better - 2nd degree tear) to twice or 3 times a week. I was playing so much for a bit there that it was becoming a chore instead of just being fun. There are other things in life besides hockey and I'm way behind doing many of the other things I want to do.

Older now
How do I know I'm getting older? Well, there are many clues really. For one, time just races past. When I was a kid, Christmas would end and it would take - like - forever for it to come around again. Now - I'm still paying off last Christmas and I realize it will be here again in a blink. Another clue is that I post a blog about it being Springtime and then my next one is a few days before the official start of Fall. Yep - summer (or what we had that was supposed to be summer) is ending. Of course I am going away for a week with my sister now. She was too busy all summer to take her week off so she is going now, and I get 5 weeks per year so I used one to join her. Getting away is nice, and good timing too as I just tore up a quad muscle in my leg at hockey. Not a really bad tear, but one that is going to need the week off to heal. 35 bucks for a neoprene and velcro quad wrap! That and Advil makes it much better. Bowen Island Lager helps too.

My summer has been good mostly, but I have been fighting off the old depressions from time to time. That's just how it is sometimes. I have been lonely sometimes and as the kids (my ex's) are getting older they have things in their lives that keep them busy too - so it's harder to call them up and do stuff. And I hate doing stuff on my own, but I guess I better get used to it. I have had a couple of days with a girl from my past. She looked me up on Google, remembered me from 30 years ago when she was a camper at a summer camp I worked at (TIBI). She was 10 and I was 23. Of course - now it is 40 and 53, so it's not so bad, eh? I had a great day with her and her very artistic daughter at the Ladner market. I had to keep out of the way a lot, as she was running a stall, selling her stuff, and her daughter borrowed my camera to take shots all around the market. Instead of the typical shots of people or things, she was looking at shapes, contrasts and unusual compositions. Stuff I learned in art school about 35 years ago and have mostly forgotten and here she is doing it by instinct. Such talent and, of course, she doesn't see herself as very talented. Sigh! I know people that would trade their soles for such talent.

Even with the Vancouver city strike shutting down many ice rinks around, I played a fair bit of hockey this summer and am actually having to turn down some winter hockey as I just can't see myself playing every weeknight. I played Monday, twice on Wednesday, Thursday (yanked the quad muscle) and Friday (pulled it some more). I was to play Sunday, but that didn't look like the smartest idea, so I am going to my brothers cabin for the week and it can heal. But that's what I was talking about at the beginning of this entry, so - until next time, eh?

It's Springtime!
Wow, too many blogs. I try and keep up with them all (not posting the same stuff on them all - that would be really boring, so to know it all you have to read them all) but sometimes I get off-track. So, the flowers are all blooming and the pollen count is high enough to make the antihistimines an important part of my life again. My hockey injuries are all better now (broke a rib at Christmas time - I fell on my knob. The knob on the end of the stick of course, what were you thinking?) but I have a knee issue I will have to get looked at soon. Some numbness and a sharp burning when I bend the left knee, yet it is strong and works fine. So that probably means it is not the knee and may be nerve related, maybe low back issues or hip problems. Hard to tell as my back hurts less now than it has in years and the hip is always kind of stiff, but no more than normal now.

Anyway - The Volcano wrestling character has been used a bit more, good thing as he was getting down for a while. He went on the Northern Hell tour in Manitoba in March and came home pumped at how well things went for him there. Go Volcano! Finally, I have Emilio's shirt packaged up to mail to him. Only been about a year since I said I would do it. That sounds like me - Mr. Procrastination. Maybe I should check the spelling on that - later!

First Snow 2006!!
Okay, the snow started yesterday (Saturday) but it has been coming down pretty good since it started. Lots of car crashes (none involving me!) and some trees down causing power outages (but not at my place). I love snow. Even though it is harder to get places. I dress warm, keep my feet dry and have a hot shower when I get in from being a kid in the snow.

Most of last week was spent with a "boil water advisory", which is still on-going, as the heavy rains caused a few landslides in the watershed. This stirred up the mud (turbidity I think they call it) and this made it so that bacteria COULD hide in the particles. The water at work looked like cola in the toilets, so I didn't want to drink the tapwater anyway. Slowing down a bit at work, so I get this upcoming week off (using up holidays left over from summer).

Remembrance Day
Summer has come and gone. Getting set for winter now. Had a nice holiday at the beginning of September with my sister, and I have pictures at my msn spaces page and some of the animal pictures are at the end of the slideshow on my my space page.

But today is a bit of a bummer, not just the Remembrance thing but I have to go to a Mass for Veronika's brother (Veronika is one of the wrestlers with Dan) who went missing after a car crash put his vehicle into a river. I don't HAVE to go of course, but I am going to show my support for her and her family and to show my respect for Ray. Here is wishing well for Veronika, her family and Ray's girlfriend.

On another note; my Dad's birthday would have been tomorrow, and mine is on Monday (53 years old and born in '53). The kids and their Dad have invited me to dinner tomorrow, so that is nice. At my age birthday's aren't so special anymore. As a mayyer of fact, I tend to get a bit depressed around mine now.

May 21, 2006. me step and junior
Victoria Day long weekend. Mixed bag weather-wise, but was sunny enough to go over to Queens Park for a bit and take in the fair that is the start of the Hyack Festival. Feeling a bit down this weekend for some reason. Had to go in to work yesterday (Saturday=overtime) but left after half a day to get my temporary cap glued back on. Dental work is soo much fun! (not!)

Dan's cousin Emillio was here from Chile for a visit. How cool. He was a blast to have around and I got to play tourist in Vancouver again. Storyeum in Gastown is really good. He has gone to Montreal now, where he is living with his sister and trying to learn English. I bet he learned more here in a few weeks than in a long stay there! Later this summer he goes back to Chile. Once he has his career in line, I hope that he will come and visit again. There is still a lot of Vancouver to show him.

See the picture of me (in the back) Stepi and Junior at the ECCW match last Friday.

I have a few other online places now. I have signed up with youtube.com, a place to store and share video online. I have a couple of wrestling clips there to start with. Also have a blog over at MSN spaces. Come and visit sometime.

April 8, 2006. Wow, time flies. Nephew James is going to get married this month. Yikes - that makes me feel OLD! honey bear

Still going with Dan to the wrestling shows, he has been booked for a few and has been on the Saturday afternoon KVOS TV shows a few times. Dan's friend Kristy and her friend Rachel got me a new plushie teddy bear. Her name is Honey (pic on right) and she is really nice. I've driven them to a few of the wrestling shows and get along with them pretty good I guess. They made her at a build a bear store in Metrotown. How cool is that?

I've finally got my taxes in (for the last couple of years), as I just wasn't able to look after the paperwork for some reason. Still a bit down after Mom's death, even though it was in late 2002. Oh well, done now at least, and I get money back. Good thing, I'm kind of broke right now. Spend more than you earn for long enough and that happens. Not serious yet, so I'm going to try and spend a bit less. Hard though as I like to spend money on the kids and then feel like I have to buy myself some toys sometimes too. Like the Laptop I bought (last year?). It was totally not needed, but I bought it anyway.

Got rid of the old car end of January. Traded it for a Chevy Uplander minivan. 7 seatbelts now, so I can take the kids places with some friends. That's another reason I'm broke - $450 a month for payments. Nice van though.

The computers are all ALMOST back to where I want them, after all of the crashes and such. I have more storage too, as I am doing more video for the wrestlers. I tape the student shows and put them into a dvd project on my Mac. Think I'll drop the karting part of my website, as I really don't have the same interest in running it that I had years ago. I have already passed off the official website work for the Club and am looking to pass off the newsletter work too. I just have way more interest in other areas now.

January 1, 2006. Happy New Year. Slow start so far, but it's only been one day. So, since last entry, my sister Mo's Gall Bladder did indeed come out and she is much more comfortable now. Volcano has been having some more matches (including a title shot for the NWA Canadian Heavywieght Belt, currently owned by Gorgeous Michelle Star. Not bad for someone just getting started. I have been shooting promo photos and video projects of some of the wrestlers and matches. Time consuming but fun.

Stephanie and a couple of her friends are coming over to the shop tomorrow to do some projects and have some fun. Looking forward to it as I always have fun when I'm with Stephanie, Therese and Crystal.

I had a ton of computer problems starting in October. A power failure while running the computer caused a head crash. I had just about completely recovered most of the data when I got the bright idea of upgrading the bios. Paid good (US) money for the upgrade and everything. Too bad, so sad. Wiped the partition sector off of the drive, so I took that as a sign and that is now my project computer while this is being updated on my NEW P4 machine. All nicely networked in my apartment. I could have MSN on 4 different machines in the apartment if I wanted to.

That's it for now.

October 2005. I can't believe it takes me so long to post. Wow, lots has happened. Latest bad news, my sister Mo called from the Lions Gate Emergency Department. She has had another flare-up with her Gall Bladder. That sucker is coming out I think! Not as bad news as Wendy Wilkinson's passing. Her husband Steve (friend from elementary school days) died August 04 and now she has gone too. 51 years old. So sad!

Better news - Dan is working hard at wrestling school. Has been since June (just before graduation) and is hoping for a shot at the local pro wrestling circuit. Just bought costumes for the kids for Halloween. Good thing I like shopping! Bought Dan some custom wrestling boots too - that's cool. I've been doing stuff with Sara and Step (and friends Ashley, Terese and Crystal) - going to the Aquarium and doing crafty-type things. Just having fun.

Trying out a Naturaphic doctor to see if he can get me to stop catching colds so easy - so far it hasn't done it as I have ANOTHER cold now! - Bought the Adobe Creative Suite 2 package. $1,500 USD but it's a beauty. Lots of cool things to play with. Came with a year of online tutorials.

Work is okay - I'm running the folder more often now, and sometimes get to set-up on the Mueller. I would still rather win the lotto 649.

April 2005. Wow - time flies past sometimes. Over the last few months I have been working out a bit with Daniel - he wants to get into wrestling shape. It's got to be good for me too. I'm not getting any younger, so being active is good. With a couple of other old-timer hockey goalies going down to injuries, I have been playing a lot of hockey. Right now there is an overlap between the winter hockey and summer hockey - and the Thunderchicken tourney at UBC. That has me on the ice 5 days in a row next week. Kind of getting burned out - hope my back holds out. It has been stiff and a bit sore of late, but I am getting it tuned up once a week at the Chiropractor and I think it's going to be okay. Lots of stretching now. -- Made the move to a 19 inch LCD monitor. Princeton (never heard of them) brand, looks good. Tinny sounding speakers, so for anything good I have to switch to my old speakers, but I don't listen to a lot of music on the computer anyway. -- Setting up a couple of homepages for Dan and Step. Just for fun and Daniel thought that it could be used as a resume sort of thing.

December 2004. Starting to do the Christmas stuff now. Cleaning the apartment so I can put up the fake tree. Looks like I will be doing a bit of Christmas with the kid's Dad's family. I went there last year and had fun - I think they all like me (or at least put up with me). My buddy Doug has an open house coming up and he wants me to meet someone. Blind date? Not really - but sort of? I'm open to meeting new people and don't have any big preconceptions of things to come. I'll just be me and see what happens. -- Had a few of the karting kids over to the shop to make Christmas cards. The shop got crowded pretty good with 4 kids and 5 adults in there, but I think everyone had fun. Gotta put a picture in here from that - maybe later this week.

November 2004. Another year older - 51 now. Not much has changed and the birthday was a non-event. Played with the Black Rats on my birthday and we won an easy game, so that was nice. -- The middle kid is once again between boyfriends, and that's really okay for a 15 year old girl I think. Kids are trying to grow old way too fast these days. It's okay to just be friends. -- Dressed as a hippy for a friends theme Halloween party. It was fun running through Value Village looking for stuff I used to own in the 70's.

September 2004. Took the 3 kids out shopping for school stuff. I don't have to, but they are great kids and I would like to keep them as friends as they become adults. With the oldest going into grade 12, he is really becoming more mature - looking for some nice clothes and all. He keeps some kid-like qualities for now, and that's okay too. There will be lots of time for him to be completely serious later, he still knows that it is okay to have some fun. Likes Spiderman and Wrestling (WWE-type). The middle one has a boyfriend that she likes to be with now. She has had lots of casual boyfriends but this one is more like the real thing. She likes Sponge Bob. The youngest is growing so big and is making ready for grade 8. A bit moody at times but is a real sweet thing most of the time. Scooby Doo is her fav.

August 2004. Steve Wilkinson died. I had known him since Wolf Cub days. Junior and Senior High Schools and the person that I had the closest contact with from my Grad Class (1972, North Van High). Steve was a good friend and always there for when someone needed him. I was at his 50th birthday party just a month and a bit back - it felt like he would always be there - now he's gone. I'll miss him.

July 2004. Stephanie is 13 now, and since she was having so much fun with my camera (and Sara's too when she could use it) I got her a nice Kodak digital for her birthday. She is loving it! I'm back to work full time now, but still have not been cleared for hockey yet. I hope to skate a bit soon and maybe try out a session or 2 within a few weeks. It's been a long time off!
I am moving all of my web stuff over to my Telus location (personal space available as part of my ADSL package) as I overloaded my portal location and I am paying a dail-up fee for an account I just use for webspace. I may go to a webhosting solution soon - don't know just yet.

June 2004. Decided to buy myself a present. Just because. I have been attempting to do digital video editting for some time now, but it was mostly too complicated or the results were less than I expected on the PC, so I bought myself my first Mac. It's an eMac 1.25 with DVD-r capability. Right out of the box it is sooo simple to use - I love the idea of just doing what I want instead of messing around and guessing what the results will be. Right after I got the eMac, my ZoneAlarm software conficted with my Norton Anti-virus which didn't play well with my Eudora email client and I spent an hour and a half just getting the PC to work the way it did the day before. AAARGHH.
me and kids at Lynn Canyon
April 2004. Late April and I am starting a "graduated return to work" program. Starts with 3 hours per day, three days per week for a couple of weeks, then 4 days, then increase the hours until full time again (about 8 weeks). The back is feeling pretty good, but the strength is not there yet. Funny how several months of not doing anything can soften up the muscles. Doing more with Colleen's kids lately, which is great. They call me up now when they are bored (sometimes anyway) and we will go out somewhere. The girls love shopping (of course) but we all went hiking up Lynn Canyon park too. Bought Sara a digital camera for her birthday (January) and she is taking tons of pictures now. Has a pretty good eye for it too. I liked her shots enough that I bought the same camera for myself. Snapshots without the film costs. It's an HP635 2.1 MP and it works well. Some of the results are on the karting pages. The picture of us on the suspension bridge is from this little camera.
My personal links page was getting WAY too long, so the links page now is an index to the sub-sections (they each have their own page now). Lots of new links added in the last few months - and still looking for more cool pages!

February 2004. Bit of a plateau in my back's healing process. Still getting better, but SOooo slow.

December 2003. My back is still messed up, but looks like I may have started to get better. A few nights back I rolled over in my sleep and woke to a loud CRACK noise coming from the middle of my back. I thought that it was going to hurt real bad, but instead, the pain looks to be getting less every day. Whatever it was that cracked, must have been doing something lower down. I'm hoping that this means I will be back to work early January and back to hockey a short time after that. I am recovering from a total hard drive failure. The old Quantum Fireball packed it in big time. Do you think I had full back-ups of my important files? Of course - NOT. So, starting from scratch with a new Western Digital 160GB drive. So far, so good.

November 2003. The February knee problem had just healed up nicely and I was playing some pretty good hockey when I had a bit of a fall in September. It's 2 months later and I am still in pain. CT scan says that there is a protrusion between L3 and L4 with inflammation that is pushing the nerve. Rest and anti-inflammation drugs (and ice) is about all I can do. Any more rest and I think I might grow roots! 13th of November saw me turn 50! Funny, when I was in high school I never thought I would be around for 50. Sooo old! Strange, I don't really feel much different than when I was 20, except that I hurt a bit more. My car was stolen from the underground "secure" parking. It was found the next day in Burnaby, I guess some kid needed to get to a party and my car was cheaper than a bus fare.

February 2003. Actually got around to making buttons for the karting menu frame page. Looks better than the linked text in a table type of buttom substitute I was using. Just blew my knee's out playing hockey, so maybe I'll get around to doing some of the stuff that I have been putting off, like webpage updates.

November 2002. Things sure change fast. In August we thought Mom was having a stroke. The hospital checked and found a brain-stem tumour. By the end of September she was left with no left-side use of her body. October 27th, she passed away in the Paliative ward of the Lions Gate Hospital. They were very nice to her there. I hope to put a web-page together for her memory. She had a remarkable life.
The karting scores have a slightly different look - to try and make them easier for me to do.

July 2002. In January I returned to being single. This is good and not good at the same time. It can be depressing, but I'm getting along pretty good now (I think). Lots of new karting information - the karting sections are being updated every couple of weeks now. Sometimes 2 or 3 times a week as changes in the local karting scene demands. My personal stuff has been slightly updated to reflect my new status (now available!). Many kart and racing links updated and some new stuff added to the non-racing links. Both links pages have been cleaned a bit of dead links and sites I don't like anymore.

November 2001 has just a few updated items in the personal stuff and the karting things too. Not much else (hey - I've been busy).

October 2001 had a few new links, and a few karting links were removed as not good enough for me to recommend anymore. I used to put up a link to a karting site just because it was related to Westwood and put up a comment about it's quality. Some people took offense at the comments, so now I just won't list it at all unless it is worth my endorsement!

In September 2001 I put up some photo's of kart racing in 1967.

April 2001 had some new photo's on the Sprint kart page. and some fresh karting content.

March 2001 has only a few updates and I adjusted a couple of background colours. I have added some more links - in the computer section mostly, but also to the where I live area too.

February 2000 saw me split the links page into two pages, as it was just too big as one. The old links outta here page contains stuff of interest to me. Places that I like to go to on the web, homework helpers, science & html stuff, organizations that I support and stuff about where I live. The new links page, karting & racing links, is for anything that I have found to be of interest in the motor racing area.

In January 2000, I added a "useless web trick", some type chasing the cursor thing, to this page. You should be playing with it right now.

Last Issue Boo-Boo's
Spelling errors. Some day I'll make time to plan out what I put in and use a text editor with a spell checker before importing the text to html. Shaaa right.

. . . This page links to almost all of my other pages. Most link
back to the index page, if you have any trouble navigating while here. . . . . .
. . . . . My personal page is here for anyone interested. This is where you can find out about the Beast name. . . . . .
. . . . . . . . I sort of lost interest in the karting, so am dropping that section (after many years). They are lots of fun and these ones are not really toys at all. Here is a link to the official Westwood Karting website instead. . . .
. . . . When you are ready to go somewhere else, check-out my links pages, a good launching area to the WWW. With some new stuff too. (updated and checked when I can!) . . .

HTML is fun but confusing sometimes.

This page was originally put together using HTML Writer Ver. 0.9 beta 4a, by Kris Nosack, which was downloaded from the file library of Mortimer.com, my isp, about 1994! That means I was working on an antique, and I actually had to learn some HTML code. You want some of my code?? File - Save as ...works well for that. Find the messages? A good way to start out in HTML, that's web page writing, is to save a page's source code and open it in a web editor (lots of free ones out there) or open it in notepad. Change the text, save it under a new name, (that saves the original in case you don't like the changes you made) and point your browser at your new page (File - open - browse) and see what the changes look like. Email me for help with a first page if you like.
I am now testing the pages with Opera 9.25 (my default browser), Firefox Ver 2.0.0.14, Netscape Navigator Version 9 (LAST VERSION - they killed it!) and Internet Explorer 7. The security updates no longer trash my IE settings, which is nice. I would probably rank them Opera, Firefox, Netscape and IE for look and usability. The hackers aim at IE first, as it's the biggest.
If using an older browser that doesn't support all the cool stuff, why would you do that? Download a newer browser. Most will even mail you the cd for free or cheap if the download time is a problem (does anyone still use dial-up?? Not me!). Here are the links for -
Opera - my favourite right now.
Firefox - second choice.
Safari - Apples best, for windows too.
Netscape - is no longer supporting it's browser.
IE
or go to CNET's downloads.com and pick one from there.

WYSIWYG editors I have tried!

I have tried the Microsoft Front Page Express, mostly because it was free. It did some strange things with my coding, and I don't like that. I have also tried the Netscape Composer and it too needs a clean-up of the coding. I still like coding the old-fashioned way - by manual editor - but that takes so much time. No tricks or even a spelling checker. What's that? You noticed the lack of spell-check? Me too! I have returned to the CuteHTML program (again!), a free code editor that works pretty good. It is not for raw rookies, you need to know something of HTML, but it works pretty good. Just a little problem with it giving Capital letters to start file names, but I have that beat now too. It's from the people at cuteFTP if you want to check it out. I am running the pre-spyware version, liked it, registered it and never upgraded. If spyware scares you, download an older version of the software. I liked their FTP program enough to pay for and register it. It's how I get my pages up to my ISP (and it still works, even though the program was designed for Win95 and I now run XP.

I know, I said I would give up on the WYSIWYG editors, but then I tried the HotDog Professional 5 editor. It's different, and very nice, but costly, and then tried the Homesite editor too. I really liked that one, but it's not too cheap either (and now the company belongs to someone else). Has good html4 support, ccs and all! Then I won a copy of Adobe's GoLive 4.0. It is so cool, but it is really aimed at the artist-type of a web designer. It wants you to have a vision of your page and drag, drop and click & shoot to put it all together. I'm a mechanic-type of html guy. I like to type in the code as I want it. This page is a combination of WYSIWYG and manual editors. Some code got very ugly in WYSIWYG.

Thanks to the fine folk who were Mortimer.com (dail-up purchased by Internet Portal in 2000 which then sold it to Uniserve in 2001) for their patience and time in my starting out years. Mortimer is still around as Left Coast Systems Corp and you should check them out for free stuff and webhosting. Local folks doing good!
