Flash Animation
Flash technology has become a popular method for adding animation and interactivity to web pages. Flash is commonly used to create animation, advertisements, various web page components, to integrate video into web pages, and more recently, to develop rich Internet applications.
Although Flash web sites are exactly what they say; “Flashy,” I strongly discourage having a complete website designed in Flash. The reasons for my discouragement are that: 1) they really increase the home page load time making your user wait; 2) music and sound files increase the file size, take time to download and can even annoy your user; 3) search engines cannot index pages, images and graphics; 4) updating your site can be a nightmare; and last, but not least; 5) it will cost you more to have a Flash site created. However, using a little Flash in strategic areas of your website can enrich your user’s experience when they visit your site. “Click Here for example.” (Will require the Adobe Flash Player. See below to install.)
Gif Animation
Gif animations are small image frame-by-frame animations that should be used sparingly on websites. Some animated buttons use gif animations to add dynamic effects when the user rolls over, or places their cursor over your web page buttons. Our little mouse in the box at the top of this page is an example of gif animation.
