Link, tending to one of his bean sprouts, experiences a moment of peace and joy. I like this picture, even though it's not really finished: I never shaded his leg or his boot. The ear is much better and his face doesn't look ridiculous. His glove/gauntlet is not accurate, though, and he seems to be missing his sword and shield as well. I also didn't try shading the face because faces are hard to do and I didn't understand their shapes at all back then. Now I still don't...

Anyhow, today I played a Warhammer battle at the shop with my brother, except no one showed up so it was just me against him. I brought all my Elves - bolt thrower, 8 Silver Helm standard cavalry, 16 spearelves, 16 archers, 9 skirmishing Shadow Warriors, plus a 2nd level mage and a commander - vrs my brother commanding the shop army of Dwarves because he only brought one unit of his Bretonnians to battle. These folks will have their pictures posted when I get to about summer of '04, at least the Silver Helms.

So, my shooting was spectacular for the first two-three turns, and I flamed half a unit to pieces with my sorceress, but I still didn't win. Methinks this is because I didn't concentrate firepower enough on one object, or I chose the wrong one. I shot all my archers at the pesky cannon that took down half my cavalry in one shot (after I shot at them, too) and I didn't manage to take out the crew. Blah. Then, with no cavalry to flank charge anything (I had two, and they just charged the dwarves' main unit head on to make a glorious end - or something like that, more like avoid being cannon fodder - if only Elfin-wë had made his armour save!) I was stuck with one unit of spearmen vrs three units of grumpy short people. Blargh.

Still, the unit of grumpies on fire was worth something.

My brother just barely finished that unit of Bret Men-at-arms and he brought them, but before we talked him out of it, he was all set to line them up on a movement base and bring them to Games Workshop just like that! Walking down the street from the parkade, balancing these twenty guys on their tray... Uh... yeah.

I think I will try and get in the mood for painting because Tuor really needs his cloak, and also he really needs to get into battle. Poor guy has all the glory stolen by his wife and seven-year-old son.

When we were driving home, the sunset made all the snow pink. Pretty. Also, it bounced off some windows, making me think of the beginning of The Cat Returns.

I'll never get caught up with my posts if I draw two pictures a day! I drew two the day before yesterday... two yesterday... and I have three in mind for my next session! I forget what the third is, though. Um, and also this picture was re-scanned from the original, and it turned out a lot better - much less shadow. I think I will have to rescan a lot of my previous pictures.
